That video is super helpful! So getting a ball through one of the "start" pockets triggers the chance counter, but doesn't do anything until after a fever round? Or is it just that in that particular video they didn't score a lucky number until after the fever round?

I'm planning on taking it apart enough to get a look at the digital displays. I'm hoping there's an easy fix for them. And I guess I'll decide what to do from there. Doesn't sound like it's worth sinking any money into it if it needs parts. I don't really have room for this cabinet. And if I'm not in love with it, I can't see making room. But we'll see.

I had the same shooter issue with my early modern Sankyo, having to touch the metal on the cabinet.
I had to adjust a pot, which is on the pcb near the shooter motor.
I think I can see yours , below the motor on the right side next to the plugs. Looks like a tiny blue phillips screw.
Try turning that, 1/16th turn at a time and test. Make sure to mark how it’s set right now, so you can turn it back in case it isn’t working.

    Thanks I'll try that!

In the meantime... THE DISPLAYS ARE ALL WORKING!

I took the cell apart down to the PCBs the displays are mounted on. I hit every connector with a shot of electrical contact cleaner, put it all back together making sure the connections were snug, and BINGO!

I also managed to score a "lucky" number and saw the tulip do its open/close thing. So I think this puppy is ready to party.

Is this what you're talking about? If this once had a screw, it's gone now.

I'm OK with bypassing the touch control. It doesn't seem to change gameplay at all.

Oh wait, maybe that IS the screw? I couldn't see it with my eye (even with my reading glasses) but in the picture I can see the cross marks of the phillips head. I'll have to try that when I get home.

Trol for the win!! A slight turn of that screw clockwise and my "grounding issue" was solved. I guess that's some sort of sensitivity control for the touch sensor?

Anyway, I undid my jerry-rig fix. This machine is ready to play! Or sell... still haven't decided.

Daiichi’s are weird; just bought a Fruit Passion kenrimono from this era and had all sorts of shooter grounding issues just like the OP’s machine; till I found where they hid the board with the tiny pot that adjusts shooter sensitivity! Now works like new.
