Default Hello from Los Angeles Museum of the Game / KLOV

Hello... I signed up back in 2013 but didn't do anything other than look at a few posts. So I'm back today making my first post. I'm in Los Angeles and run the www.arcade-museum.com site and related activities. I'm working on research related to the history of coin-operated amusement and that includes Pachinko. I have some suspicions that the early history of Pachinko hasn't been perfectly described (ie: role of Corinthean Bagatelle possibly over-stated, influence and inspiration from a half century of European wall games eventually making it Japan possibly understated). My few seemed to be shared by the Masamura Pachinko Museum in Nagoya as noted several places on line. I don't speak Japanese (though have studied it in the past), and I'm having a hard time conducting any research.

In short, I'm particularly interested in pre-war history, as well as post-war machines from the end of the 1940s and the 1950s...

I'm about to post in the vintage section, but I'm also trying to find which of the Japanese Pachinko museums are still open (or are not...) as I'll be in Japan soon.

    Greg

Thanks for the welcome and the links. I'll keep an eye on those links. I would actually like to acquire a few 1950s and before machines, but that seems easier said then done...

Hi Greg, I am interested in the early Showa period Smart Ball machines. I know you think Corinth is overstated, but so often I see the larger horizontal machines left out of the history.

Also if you ever want to chat I am especially interested in the influences between American, European, and Japanese coin-op developments, both horizontal and vertical, and how local gambling laws heavily influenced how which styles flourished or withered.

I have a 50’s era machine I could part with. PM me for details.
