    Default Hello from Texas

Hello all, thanks for having me.

This weekend I was offered what seemed like an awesome deal on a Nishijin "Space Fire!!" pachinko machine (ten bucks, if you're curious).

I've realized that it doesn't work and I think that it's missing parts, which I reckon is where y'all come in. I've not been able to find much (any) information on my model on the Internet - just a single website where it listed it for sale back in 2015.

    Machine looks like this:
    20190818_154608.jpg

I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this model. Reckon questions about why it isn't working go in the appropriate forums.

Oh, absolutely! Wasn't sure if here was the right forum for it, or if I needed to move to the Modern or Vintage forums.

    20190818_154543.jpg

From the other "Space Fire" image I saw (https://www.ebth.com/items/2469460-v...chinko-machine if I'm allowed to post links) it looks like I'm missing a big metal box on the left, which I imagine is the main board for the jackpot thing, and I also imagine is not available anywhere.

I looked for a year on the stamp but all I found was Japanese characters, so not even sure year of manufacture.

In the back of your machine Your Brain Box ( computer Box) is Missing!

If course the computer connectors loose on the back is a Dead give away.

    Thanks y'all.

Yeah - the controller is missing; so (apparently) is the feed tray.

Are the controllers relatively universal from that generation Nishijin or are they specific to the model in use?

They are all specific. Different music, lights, ect. Unfortunately it’s just a parts machine in current condition. Looks cool though!

Thanks; I'm sorry to hear that.

What about outside of audio - functionality is roughly the same?

(in other words - if I did find a brain from another machine and disabled the audio, would that "work", for a simplified meaning of the word?)

Maybe? These hanemono style machines all operate similarly; however some don’t have the tulip style pockets; and the ball payout amount is different on some vs others. I’d keep looking for a complete machine if I were you. It would probably be more trouble than it’s worth to try to hunt down a “brain” for one of these and still not know if it would work unless you are very lucky. (Yours is somewhat uncommon to begin with; I’ve never seen it before, and I’ve been hunting these things for YEARS! ) These usually sell in the $60-100 range (working).

So - I might not be smart, or I might not be wise (or both).

I think rather than scrap it, I'm going to try and make my own controller. I'm not one to shy from projects and apparently don't know when to call something too far gone.

I do have a specific question and a general question though:

Specific: The pockets and sensors; I didn't see the question asked (probably because unless folks are rolling-their-own controllers, it wouldn't matter) -- do they run on 24v DC or AC or some easier to handle voltage?

General: I have targets at the bottom marked Act 1 and Act 2, a couple of targets low further out to the edges with "arms", and then some little pockets higher up and the main center target thing (see pics above).
How does gameplay - in general - work -- hit an Act 1 to open the arms of the low target on that side, hit that to open the arm of the center target, hit that to win balls? Act 2 to skip the side target thing and open both center arms?

Get the led panel on top of the center feature to countdown and get a digital amplifier with a sd card or usb connection and get the song " Final Countdown " and rig a microswitch to trip in the
Center feature to play the song with maybe some flashing lights it would be epic !!

It looks like I'm missing another part - where the motor fires the balls, there's not anything connecting the hammer-thing to where balls would be.

    20191127_191309a.jpg

Is this indeed a missing part?

You do have the motor that has a cam that moves the metal arm that if you open the door in front underneath the circular play field you will possibly see the front ball tray feeding mechanism which is connected to the "Ball hammer mechanism" in back.

Or you could find a vintage parts machine, and use a manual spring loaded one. That way you can focus all your "electrical" thinking to making the rest of it work.
