Default "Tron" Style Cocktail Arcade - JAMMA

    Hello Everyone!

Well, my original cocktail arcade game build was fun, and I enjoyed it a lot, I learned even more, but one of my friends made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. Sadly,it left, but a great family will get to enjoy it as much or more than I did. So now, I have to replace it. But how could I improve on what's there? More games, sure. Additional controls for horizontal, sounds great. The cabinet should look like "Tron"....yeah, that would be awesome!

So now I have to set about making a new cocktail arcade game the looks Tron like....so let the fun begin!

Here is the start on the base cabinet. This unit has the head to head stations and the side station so that I can run horizontal games on the JAMMA unit as well. I'm excited to be able to run just about any type of game in one cabinet.204112.jpg204231.jpg

There is much more to come...I don't think you will be disappointed. I have more pictures of the assembly on the way.

I didn't want to bore anyone with the basic cabinet construction, as I think many of you have seen it before. This one is a purchased prefab that interlocks like Ikea furniture. Can I build a custom cabinet...yes, but in this case I was willing to pay for convenience and get to building the stuff I think is interesting. As a lot of you on this forum know, I would prefer to recycle something, or resurrect some unfortunate dilapidated thing from the dead and keep you guys occupied with my curiosity, cursing, frustration and ingenuity in trying to dig myself out of a situation I put myself into. On this project I decided to skip that step and buy a pre-fab so that I could concentrate on making it look really nice.

Okay, here is some of the goodies that will go into this build and the tools to get the work done. I will go into detail on some of the individual components and detail the modifications to make this cabinet "Tron Like". Also, as with the last build, I am building it in place in my game room, instead of trying to cart the thing up stairs after completion. Yeah, I plan on jamming all that into the cabinet... this should be a lot of fun.

Well, the sound in the first cabinet was....acceptable for the classic arcade games that I was originally thinking it would play. The usual bonks, beeps, whoops and chirps would probably be fine for regular "Pacman" noises, but I wanted to try to go a little further for the 90's games and add a bit more (well also, because it's me!). On that JAMMA board a few more modern games were....lacking. So, I planned on a little upgrade from the single "factory" 4in speaker that is normally installed. I went on Amazon and found an inexpensive set of 4in coaxial automotive speakers and a single board 15w x 15w stereo amplifier... in blue, to match my plan! So, the picture above, is the little upgrade.
