    I would look for the VA rating on the back of the machine before purchasing a transformer

    Might be on the rear plastic cover along with the machine name in Japanese

    then you need a 2 amp one. That is if my memory is correct on the calculation

    at 120 v ac 2 amps is 240 Volt Amps

    But it's Japanese, which is 100VAC, which would be 2.4amps.

    I'd get a 5 amp step down transformer, 120 to 24. The extra margin helps when all the lights light up.

    If my info is correct, it actually the 24v reading you should be interested in. Thats where the work happens. Giving you 10.4A which puts it inline with most modern machines. If I try to run a machien off a 5A transformer it heats up really quick and the machien suffers from voltage drop. However, it the UK we are dropping the voltage from 240 down to 24.

    I was thinking that too. Someone check one of those monster games to see what they use.

    Just did a Yahoo Japan search for pachinko transformer (パチンコ トランス). Their big units feed 4 to 6 machines and put out 10.4 amps average per outlet. I'd go with that!

    It's the output you want to look at. You're in Texas, so obviously you don't want some 250v input transformer. If you don't know how many amps it is using (at 24 volts), then it is going to be guess work, but it never hurts to have more amps available. Does it have a wattage rating? If so, then you'll know exactly what you need. Mine (Lassen World) came with a 24V 5A transformer and seems to work well.

    all of mine are running off 5 A. transformers and have been for years. i too the 100v ones off as here in the states we use 120v for line voltage.

    I believe the 250 Vamps is the min that unit will take to power everything. So I would not power it with anything less. I was lucky enough to find nice powervolt 5 amp transformers years ago thats why i have so many extra ones.

    100V is what Japan Uses

    110-120 here in the US

    240 V in the UK

    lol way to keep standards across the board. never understood why such difference all over.

    I remember doing live work on outlet swaps in the house. I don't know if I would dare do that in the UK with 240 lol

    volt amps and amps are 2 different measurements. that would definately underdrive your machine like Clam states.

    there is a formula to convert it. that transformer is only.48 amps like it says.

    I remember this from all my electronics engineering classes

    Single phase amps to VA calculation formula

    The apparent power S in volt-amps (VA) is equal to current I in amps (A), times the RMS voltage V in volts (V):
    S(VA) = I(A) × V(V)
    So volt-amps are equal to amps times volts:
    volt-amps = amps × volts
    or
    VA = A ⋅ V

    Example

    What is the apparent power in VA when the current is 12A and the voltage supply is 110V?
    Solution:
    S = 12A × 110V = 1320VA

    from here handy references

    if your curious about the science of it.
