    Default Shooter Help

I sold a sammy popeye pachinko and met the customer to drop it off.

They are new to the hobby and they contacted me and said they can't get the ball to shoot.

I informed they to turn it off and turn it back on.

I informed them to make sure the top tray on the front is loaded with balls and turn the handle all of the way.

I am in the process of explaining to them how to to open the front to check for jammed balls.

Anything else I should try or ask?

The game has always worked for me... and I haven't had to open or diagnose issues on this one like other ones I have had.... so I don't have as much experience addressing problems on this kind.

I have a few sankyo games that still make noises like they are trying to fire even why they have a jam or aren't loaded. They are telling me that the sammy popeye isn't making any noise when they turn the handle.

    Any help is appreciated!

Have you had them check the dongle on the back to make sure it didn't come loose?
    I've never met a Pachi I didn't like

I was never aware of a dongle and have owned the unit for over a year.

Based on checking some info on this site, the dongle is supposed to be in the parallel style port? (I included a picture below).

Any idea how it might have been possible that it worked without one?

It's quite possible - my Kyoraku Big Bang frame has never had a dongle either, and doesn't need one.
It's a modern machine that's been altered to be cyclic, so doesn't require a CR dongle as it would be redundant.

I'd be looking elsewhere....a plug may have come loose, or they have messed around with something in the back?
When they say the ball won't shoot, is it making any noise at all?
When they turn the handle, do they hear a 'thud thud thud', or nothing?
Potentially a little wire could be loose inside the handle, if there is no noise, but that would NOT be the usual most obvious problem.

Could they do a little video on their smartphone, and send it over to you of what they are trying/experiencing?
There is always another machine around the corner...

Last time I talked to them, I asked them about any noise when turning the handle, they said "No".

I'll have them check the connections and send a video.

Any suggestions on switches or buttons to try on the back?

In the interest of "science" I dug my Sammy Popeye out, and I can verify that it will NOT shoot without the bypass dongle.

Take it for what it is, but I would look around and see if there is a dongle laying around anywhere that needs a home.
    Gotta catch 'em all Pa-chink-o

Looks like I will start another post and be checking around to find someone that has a bypass dongle.

    Thanks again!
