on the lumina, there are 2 springs that do that, one inside the knob its self. (pic 3) the other at the end of the shaft (pic 6)
have you removed the handle from the machine yet.

on this one, you remove the screw on the underside of the shooter. (pic5) then slide it off.

It might have the same spring set up as the real machine cause it's made by Sankyo and it's cheap enough I say get it and get a good camera or smartphone and take plenty of photos of both while carefully disassembly of them .

    Good luck

It might use the same mouldings and internal parts. I don't see the pause button on the game controller, but then again, I can't see it on the real one either

Here's the same model for sale that you may be able to use as a parts machine. It's a bit of a drive for you, but Pacifica is a great place to hang out for the day.

    Did you ever fix it?
Try taking the handle apart and gerry-rig a spring? I had a bad Biohazard handle and a a replacement was going to run $75! I took the spring to a real hardware store locally, they were able to give me a very close match and with a little spit, grit and a whole lot of duct tape, it worked.

If that gamer handle was cheap just buy it to steal the parts from inside it?!
