Default Adding A Pull Handle To My Pachislo Slot

    Hello again everyone,

In all my excitement (and now obsession) with the Pachislo slots, I wanted to play around and add a pull handle to my Eleco Outlaw machine.

I've got all the proper tools, a pull handle that I purchased on eBay, years of electronics experience and I'm ready to go! The switch (appropriate wires) were easy to find on the pull handle. So, I moved on to the slot machine. I disconnected the spin knob connector from the PCB inside of the slot machine so that I could sort out which wires I would parallel with the pull handle switch. The spin knob has 3 wires on it (red, black, yellow). My first assumption was that there was a common with two switches. One for spin knob up and one for spin knob down. However, I've hooked up my digital meter and checked continuity on all of the wire combinations there are. Nothing! No continuity anywhere. I've tried the spin knob in both the up and down positions while checking. I'm a little stumped. Is it not a simple switch? Is there some resistive load involved?

I plugged it back into the PCB, powered up the machine and the spin knob works fine.

I took a closer look tonight. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the spin knob is a simple switch like I had hoped. It swings a small piece of metal in and out of the U shaped sensor. It doesn't look to be opto - maybe inductive or magnetic. With the new knowledge, I tried taking voltage readings at the 3 pins on the PCB. I think they are +5vdc, ground and possibly the switch signal but I couldn't seem to get a consistent reading. The voltmeter kept draining to ground while the spin knob was held. Almost like a capacitance draw down. I'm beginning to think that adding the pull handle isn't going to be feasible.

its been done by other members, do a search for pull or slot handle and see what comes up

I've installed pull arms on a couple of machines and I just spliced into the wires for the spin lever, close to the connection, where it plugs into a circuit board.

It's been 2 or 3 years and I no longer have a Eleco brand machine, with a pull arm, but I believe it's the yellow and black wires you need to splice into.
It was wired to a "Leaf Switch" on the pull arm.

I also splice into the Max Bet button wiring and wire it to another leaf switch on the pull arm. That way as you pulled the arm, it made the bet first, then spun the reels. That way to play the machine, all you needed to do was just pull the arm.
What if...the HOKEY POKEY, is what it's all about?

Thanks Wayne-Ooo for your response. I was hoping that mine was a simple leaf switch but it's not. As I mentioned, it's actually a sensor type switch with a transistor output. A piece of metal passes through the U sensing device and triggers the spin. Unfortunately, I can't measure a constant output. It drains to ground. So, I'm not quite sure how it works.

I did some searches as luckydog suggested but came up empty. I found a couple posts with people looking for answers like myself.

OK so I experimented with the machine. A voltmeter on the pull arm is reading like it is a potentiometer. So, I tried connecting the Black and yellow wire coming off the machines pull arm like suggested above and it did cause the machine to register it as a pull. I have no idea what long term harm could come from this, or if it will damage the machine. This is just my observations and I take no responsibility if anyone else tries this and damages their machines in the process.
