    Question Questions about Mr.Fall

Hello everyone! I'm really happy to find a site like this one exists! I recently found a Mr.Fall machine at my local Good Will for a steal! Everything works on the machine except for the knob launcher, I'm not 100% sure what if its not getting enough power or if something else is wrong but its chugging to get one to launch. This is the first machine that I've owned with a knob launcher.

    I'm no expert.

The first thing you want to do is make sure there are enough balls in the top payout tray. There is a linkage that runs from all the way up there and goes down to the feed for the ball shooter.

There is a black knob on the backside of the machine that is connected to the launcher mechanism. That can be turned one way or another to adjust the amount of "force" that the launcher will hit the balls with. As you turn it one way you'll fell the hammer come back. It's really interesting.

Another thing you can try to do is open the front window (If you don't have a key there is a cool little lever thing on the back near where the key goes in on the front.) After that there should be a little tab on the front right hand side of the ball tray. If you push that down the upper ball tray should swing open the same way the front window did. Be careful doing this! Mine was stuck because some sort of mixture of coffee and cigarette tar formed something like glue. From there you can see all of the little mechanisms that feed the ball launcher. Make sure those are all clean.

If neither of those accomplish anything; make sure that the "Ground" for the metal shooter band is well connected and the contacts are clean.

    Hope this helps!

So after messing with it a bit more I believe it is the shooter motor that is not supplying enough power or it may be the shooter itself. its works great at setting it at low but when you turn it to any higher (where the balls actually make it off the ramp) it chugs a lot at take some time to actually fire.

Have you tried turning the knob (circled in pic) to adjust the launch strength? I believe you need to push or pull the knob while turning it... It will surely change what happens... but it may not fix it. Either way, we're closer to the actual issue

I found that that knob is linked to the shooter. Though I was messing with it and it started work like normal but then started chugging again.

Yeah that little black knob was the thing I was talking about. If it starts sounding slow or chugging it may be a worn motor or possibly something some stuff with the cam being all gummed up. Take it apart and clean it. Take lots of pictures so you know how it all goes back together! It sounds like you're already making great progress

I just had another idea. Sometimes electric motors get all kinds of gunk that builds up inside on the contacts. If you take it apart and clean the mechanisms first and re assemble it to the same problems..... try just letting the motor cycle for a while at a speed where it seems to work. The brushes on the motor might clean themselves off.

Thank you for the advice! When I get time tomorrow Ill make sure that I go head and take it part and clean the pieces! I have a feeling that it might just be dirty.

I know after cleaning mine it seemed a bit slow at first; but then just started working great. Electric motors are weird.
