Talking Re: Medic!!! Sniped on RoboCop

Thanks for the kind word, I needed that!
Im going to take these little setbacks as a sign that I need to sorta back off & wait for the frenzy to slow a little. Maybe all my pachinko wants will come down in price a little & flying pigs will bring them to my door. Free of charge!!!

Sorry to hear you were dissappointed, but the only way he could have won the auction was if he was willing to pay more than you were. If your bid had been higher than his, you would have won.

The reason I snipe is to keep the price from being driven up. When I snipe, I still put in the MAX I am willing to pay on the 1st attempt. Trying to win with multiple bids in the last few minutes is just a bidding war in high speed and it drives the price up.

Most of the items I "snipe" I never even bid on. I watch the auction coming to a close and usually a couple of frenzied bidders start a last minute war and drive it out of my range. I dissappear without ever placing a bid.

Occaisionaly my strategy pays off, I won a Neo PlanetT last week for $60.99. Oddly enough, $61 was my max bid becuse of the the shipping was high and I set my max price based on the "to the doorstep" price.

Bidding in the last 7 seconds or so. That way no one can enter a return bid because there is no time left in the auction.

I did put in my max bid in my 1st snipe. I wait till the last 10 seconds so theres no chance for me to resnipe. He was just a little higher...
To snipe is to be a sniper in hiding. Waiting for the last few seconds to bid so no one has enuf time to rebid more than you.

It has nothing to do Pachi and everything to do with eBay.

A snipe is a bid placed near the end of the auction, usually in the last few seconds. The idea is not to show any interest in the auction, so as not to drive up the price. You just pick the max that you are willing to pay, and just place that one bid a few seconds out.

Most people do this manually, but the best way to do it is with a snipe program in which it will automatically place the bid at the correct time. I usually place mine about 7 seconds out.

Sorry doodude - I just really like that black case and I simply placed my bid at the highest I was willing to pay. A little higher and you would have had it.

    Why I oughta...

Congrats on the win. Actually that was $10 higher than I originally planned but as I counted down the seconds I said, what the hey & raised it by $10.
So I woulda been $20 over & if youre gonna be $20 then why not $40 & if youre gonna be...
Gotta set limits I guess. Maybe if I got into the kids college fund!?
