Wink Travel Report - Kyushu October 2015

Howdy - got home a couple days back from 2 weeks in Kyushu (specifically Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita)

My average day found me in a pachi parlor at least once... Usually hit one in between cleaning up after a day of sightseeing, and waiting for the good izakaya to open... Going after the izakaya was not a good idea... as I really dig Sapporo and satsuma imo shochu..

And before anyone asks... no - I didn't see any of the new flipper shooter machine. Not actually released there yet. Just announced. (Bummer)

Anyway... here's my rough guess at what I played, how much I liked it... and how much "fun" I earned or lost. (I'm calling it "fun" to try and remain a bit distanced with certain Pachitalk taboos.)
Machine / net "Fun" / My Rating
    Eva 9 / -5000 / 4
    Eva 10 / -10000 / 4
    Ranma Hanemono / 4000 / 5
    Hidan no Aria / 12000 / 3
    New Lupin III / -2000 / 3
    Macross Frontier2 / 10000 / 5
    Star Wars Battle of Darth Vader/ -3000 / 5
    Random others / -4000
    TOTAL / 2000

So I really dug the new Macross Frontier 2 machine, new Star Wars, and that Ranma Hanemono. I won the most on that Hidan no Aria machine - a request to "check it out" from Spyder138. It was a 1 yen machine too... took quite a while to build that up at one... um... "fun" a ball...

The Macross Frontier 2 machine had a neat 3 LCD setup. Normally displayed as a triptych kinda setup... but would often move the outer 2 LCD's and spin them around, etc etc... A really cool effect. Plus holographic content on the front glass.

The new Star Wars machine got a lot of points from me because of the excellent new content... the Endor Forest scene/reach was particularly well done. Plus there's the nifty tubeworks (though there are about 20 pins on the thing) and some 3d effects...

The Ranma hanemono.... well... it was cool. Fun to play, and challenging as well.

Saw some ultra new data counter setups. Basically full touch screen

One machine I saw but didn't play that looked pretty cool was the new Garo one. Note that if you ever pick one of these up, you'll need a lot of clearance up top of the machine. During jackpots a full size Garo head pops up out of the top of the machine.

New Lupin machine has a steering wheel for play... New Kamen Rider had motorcycle handlebars...

All in all it was a great vacation. And hitting a parlor for 15-30 mins (more if I had "fun") every day is a great way to check out the new machines. Pretty much breaking even again this year helps too

Would I (or will I) buy any of these when they are available (some already are)? The new Macross Frontier 2 machine will be tempting. Very cool, and the Eva X is in the same frame. Think the latest Gundam one is too. Interesting frame - only one ball tray up front. Sankyo got rid of the lower overflow tray. The main tray can fit about 300 balls tho - its huge and deep. I think the Ranma Hanemono and the new Star Wars have the same frame as well... hmmmm....

Oh... and for the inevitable "Would you get an Eva 9 or Eva X" - hmmm... The content on Eva X is improved. Its a bit of a departure from Eva 9. A bit more like Eva 8 - complicated modes, etc.

Sorry - no photos really... at least not ones of pachinko... didn't want to get thrown out for that.

Thanks for the play test reviews. They're very helpful. I've seen the Garo machine on YouTube. Most impressive.
