    Default Nishijin not paying out

    Hi all
new member here and having a problem with payouts on my new to me Nishijin Sophia pachinko machine. If anyone knows about what year and name of this machine would be a great help. I think the payout motor is bad because it is really hard to turn. I took off the back of the motor and then I got it to spin but when I put it together it becomes hard again. Is a replacement to be had anywhere? I'm at my sons house so I have very few tools and no volt meter

Welcome to pachitalk. Can't provide much help on the motor, but if it spins freely when off the machine and hard when it's on the machine it sounds like something is binding either with the weight of the balls or against another part of the machine.

the machine is fine, i can manualy get it to pay, what i mean is when i put the motor together the motor binds. the back of the motor pulls off so cleaned it out and when i put it together it still binds, so i think its new motor time.

ok i worked on the motor and got it to spin and pay off but somehow it went in a tilt, on the big jackpot and the horn/alarm blew and the lights turned off. i might need more ball, i have about 50 in it now.i turned it off then on and the machine went back to normal! more testing is needed

Definitly sounds like you need more balls. Most need at minimum 200 to even function properly, minimum of 500 to enjoy. Let us know how it works with more balls, I have a feeling it will run like a champ.

the machine seems to be working good with the limited balls, but i havent hit the big one yet, the nippon motor is very simple motor and easy to take apart clean which is good because a replacement can not be found. i'm visiting my son in pacifica california and got this pachinko off craigslist so now im trying to figure out how to get back to albuquerque new mexico without costing more then i paid for it. i think its to big for carry on. lol so i might leave it here then take a road trip in the car and pick it up next month. is ebay the best place to get balls, i would like real japanese ones because they look cool. it came with plain ones but i did find one real one jammed in the machine.

I have never seen a real pachinko ball that did not have engraving on it. If you have any balls without engraving on them they are probably just an industrial ball bearing. I've measured some that I've had in the past with a digital caliper and they are never they right size even though they can be indistiguishable in size by eye. They will invariably cause jams, best use for those balls is slingshot fodder.

If ordered by the case directly from the ball manufacturer, no stamping is done on the balls. I think the markings may be per parlor or machine maker. I recently pulled a ball marked "SAMMY" from a computer pachinko.

Hard to find any info on the actual ball makers, I has Juno's help to get a couple cases. Freight really hurts though.

Anything over 3500-4000 balls, your going to get in to trouble keeping it under the 30kg weight limit for normal postal services

I'm guessing this pachinko machine is call "THE HORROR GAME". I left my Pachinko in San Francisco ( is there a song like that LOL) and now home in ABQ but I brought 1 real ball home and it was 10.98mm and the 1 plain ball (when I got the machine the guy had about 50 plain balls in it) 11.04mm I'm thinking my plain balls are ball bearings because they are a little larger. I'm planing to take a drive to pick it up later.

    Nice looking machine.

Interesting on the ball sizes, If I had a digital caliper I would check a few out and see for myself. Weight should tell you if they are ball bearings.
Interesting link here for the pachinko ball manufacturing process.

Interesting thread here from years back about the size of the balls.
