    Default HJ and lock up.

have an older slot Diamonds machine. When hit 50 credits machine spits a few coins and locks up. By resetting I really not know process it will go back to play mode. A newer hopper was installed. It's the red one

Will the machine still play by hitting the max bet button and then the spin lever? If so this is normal. Most all machines won't accept more than 50 credits in the credit "bank".

No it gives the code HJ and I have to reset by utilizing all the on & off buttons and reset buttons. There is no pattern to the reset
just keep pressing & turning machine on and off. And bingo sooner or later it is operational and wipes credits clean. If the payout button is depressed it also causes the same thing. Thanks for the help!

From what you are describing, the first thing I think of is that maybe something is dirty. The main problem with machines are loose connections and they just need a good cleaning.

Tokens like things to be clean, smooth and shiny/slick. First thing I'd do is put about 10 tokens in the hopper and turn it by hand and see if the tokens "shoot out" okay. There is also a sensor somewhere on your hopper that is what actually is doing the counting of tokens. It may be under the hopper, where a lever pass through it, which in turn counts the token. Or, it may be where the token leaves the hopper.

The sensor could be dirty and can be cleaned by using some window cleaner on a Q-tip. Always be gentle when cleaning sensors.

If the tokens are shooting out of the hopper okay, by turning it by hand, then I'd clean it also. I like using pre-moisten wipes to clean with. Wipe down the inside of the hopper, down in the "dial", (where the tokens go). If the "collection bowl" comes off, remove it and it makes cleaning easier.
After I wipe it down and it's clean, I put some furniture polish on a cloth and wipe down everything. Like I said, tokens like slick and shiny!

Also, here is the proper steps to reset your machine.
