E3 hopper error on Yamasa Playboy - machine pays out after 50 credits, no stop

machine works fine except for this issue...on a bonus round, once credits go above 50, the machine starts to pay out. problem is, it keeps paying well past earned amount until E3 comes up. also, if I put in 1, or 3, or any amount of coins and hit the PAYOUT button, it does the same thing; dumps coins until E3 comes up. the hopper plugs into a board in the back of the machine.

is there a coin counter for coins dispensed out of the hopper? I see nothing.

I do have 1 weird 4 wire harness that goes to a loose board, and it is just hanging under the hopper...picture added.

That loose board is the token counter. As the tokens eject, some piece of plastic or metal goes in between those upright parts on the board signaling a token out.

thank you. took a quick pic in case anyone else has a similar issue. the hopper just unclips from the motor/mechanism assembly, then 4 screws drop the base out, and I was able to snap the optical sensor back into it's base. I can't believe I missed the housing when I took the pictures.
