Does this eBay member ID belong to anyone here?

If so we need to talk, we've been battling each other on vintage machines.

Maybe we could discuss whos gonna bid on what to try and save each other some $$$.

Moderator's; if this is in the wrong forum, I could'nt decide. Please move if so, Thanks

Collusion in bidding. Now why would I think that's not exactly on the up and up?

My feeling woud be to ban you from bidding in my auctions if I caught wind of such goings on!

And I would do it in a heartbeat!

I'm willing to post my eBay name, but some of you already know it. I'd like to think it would be cheer each other on though. Not to avoid bidding on something I or someone else wants.

If I want it badly enough, I'll bid what I am willing to pay. If I lose, I lose. If not ...

Bilko; help me to understand what is wrong with my idea. Say for example you are bidding on a gift item for your wife and your son is bidding on the same item for his mother (this example assumes they are the same person), would you talking to your son about the auction be collusion? Collusion is a new word in my limited vocabulary, so please help me to understand. Thanks

It was certainly not my intention to get anyone rialled(sp?) or to suggest anything illegal/immoral eBay or otherwise. Please forgive my ignorance if that is what I did.

Your wording should have been more discrete, Like "XVZ we need to talk about an ebay auction, please contact me here with a PM".

Collusion is defined as "a secret agreement for illegal or deceitful purpose".

Agreeing to manipulate bidding by arranging to keep others from bidding on an item in an effort to keep the price low prevents the auction item from reaching its full potential value. This is a backhanded way of cheating the seller out of right to offer the item in an unbiased competititve bidding process.

Do you suspect that the major oil companies "fix" gas prices in an effort to maximize profits and not have to compete with one another on their selling price? Should they be allowed to fix prices?

I think "fixing bids" is just as wrong as "fixing prices". Either way, somebody loses to a rigged system.

I suggest you follow a more accepted pattern of bidding called sniping.

Here you do not keep bidding back and forth with anyone leading up to the auction end time. Instead wait until the last few seconds before the auction closes and cast a bid for the MAXIMUM you are willing to pay for the item.

Often you will win the item at a price much less than you expected and if you are outbid, then that's OK, too, because you did not get caught up in the fever of bidding more than you should.

Many snipe programs will autobid for you up to the limit you set.

Sniping is NOT illegal and does not require you to "make a deal" with anyone.
