Default 1999 Sankyo Fever Ghost with card unit interface cut!

    Hello.

I have recently bought my two first Pachinko machines.
A 1996 Sankyo Fever Arabian and a 1999 Sankyo Fever Ghost.

I plan on getting pinballdave's card reader emulator. But when inspecting the back of my Fever Ghost I find no DB-25 connector, but a bunch of cut of-wires.

My question is if I can track colours and match them to the working board in my Fever Arabian?
    To connect a DB25 connector.

Thankful for help or any suggestions.

    Please see pictures below:

Not sure what the pics are of. But the first picture shows the 25pin dongle plugged in, in the large grey housing.
Second, not all moderns are CR or CRF, if it doesn't have this prefix in the machine name either on the front on the cel/playing field or on the back, it might not be a card ready machine and so, no dongle can be fitted.

In the leftmost picture there is a card with the credit-unit-connector present.

the rightmost picture is of the second machine I own, where the board is gone but the wires are there, but cut.

they are both taken in the same area of the two Pachinko-machines, the one with the wires cut has the plastic cover opened to show the rather short wires that are left.

    Thanks for that.

do both machines have the 2 extra buttons and the digital display on the front.

If so, you probably have to remove the tape and solder on a new connector.

Thanks, it does have the CR-text next to the Japanese name. It does have the two buttons and the credit-display present

Then I will track which wires go to what pins on the DB-25 and the solder them in the right places, and also include the resistors in the wire-path!

The resistors are for the LEDs in the display and photo couplers, At least you have an example you can work from. Or you would have to search for a replacement board, I'm
sure Daverob will see this thread soon and respond, He's the expert on these things.

It's difficult to say what needs to be done without seeing a bit more of the machines.

You'd need to either find a replacement for the missing circuit board with the D25 connector on it (or create your own copy of it). A photo of this board would help in identifying what's missing and how complicated the job will be.

Then you'd need to replace the cut wiring. There are usually three sets of wires to this board.

One that goes to the front tray of the machine for the two buttons and LED display. This is probably the cable that you can see that has been cut. It should be straightforward to repair, as it's connected directly to the pins of the D25, but check if you need to include resistors in line with the connections to the LED display.

The second supplies 24Vac power from the power supply to the D25 connector. Again a relatively easy fix. It's likely the cable for this has been removed entirely, so you'll need to trace where it connects to on the PSU board and make a replacement cable.

The last one is likely to be more complicated, this carries the signals for the payouts, and it's likely that this cable has also been removed completely. There needs to be opto-isolators for these connections, if they are on the missing board, then you'll need to find some way of replacing them. If they are on the payout CPU board, then it's just a matter of making up a cable to connect the D25 to the payout CPU.

Pinouts of the D25 and a circuit diagram of the connections typically found on a pachinko machine can be found on my website.

The machine with the missing board will also have a modification on it to enable the shooter handle, again without more pictures it's difficult to tell where this would be. It's most likely to be a blob of solder joining two connections on the payout CPU board.

To offer any more advice, I'd need to see pictures of the missing board and the entire back of the machine (from the complete machine) , and front and back of the payout control CPU board (from the machine with the cut cables).

That board looks simple enough to replace with some direct wiring, but it doesn't look like theres enough connections to it. I only count 15 wires on the one connector, and you need a minimum of 21 connections for the card reader interface to work.

Are there any wires that have been unplugged in that picture? From the Japanese writing on the board, the 15 way connector goes to the power and payout CPU, and the two ten pin connectors are labeled 'Upper Tray A' and 'Upper Tray B' so I'd expect that they need to have something plugged into them for the buttons and the credit display to work.

Sad to hear. Is it usual that Pachinko gets gutted out on export from Japan?

Guess I need to do some futher disassembly to check where wires realy go and if they are connected ...
