If I was to wager I'd say it is roughly 7-8 grams.

A ball weighs 5 grams (I think) and then you got the plastic part. But then there is the string so I think it would either be the same weight as a ball or just a tad more.

I have a rolling stone but I don't want to pull it off the rack I just put it on (literally just put it on) and disassemble the whole mech.

    100 machines and counting...

having a hard time finding something that is the right weight and the right shape.. used a pit of solder.. but to get the right weight its to long.. if i fold it in half it seems to hang up in the slide.. back to the drawing board..

if any one has a pic that would be great

Maybe you could find some brass to work with at Rockler or Woodcraft.

How about those split weights for fishing. Come in all sizes, and can string a bunch in a row!

well i smelted and hammered down a new lead weight to fit the tube.. it weights nearly double the weight of a pachinko ball.. the problem is it take 3 or 4 balls to make it move then once it hits bottom, (with help still) it will not slide back up.. im thinking now the string i have is not slick enough..

any one have ideas?? dental floss???

split weights are not a bad idea.. thanks

If I think back to my childhood I seem to remember my mother's embroidery thread being fairly sturdy and slick. Maybe stop by a craft store and check it out to see if it may work? You might also look at braided fishing line.

    Nylon fishing line?

Would you happen to have a pair of Horrible Freight digital calipers? If you can get me the inside width of the channel that it slides in, as accurate as possible (preferably down to .001"), I have something I want to try.

Milling out a small brass block? I've thought about that in the past....

Using CarlW's picture, I was going to try to turn one out of brass. I think the cylindrical shape would be less likely to get hung up in the channel. But I need at least one good measurement. Even if it's a good clear shot of a ruler held level and perpendicular to the track.

I dug out my Rolling Stone and took out the counter weight really fast.

    Weight: 5g
    Diameter: 3/16" (4.75mm I think).
Length from string hole: 1 9/64"

Imperial measurements were easier to use then metric as the metric ones were in between increments.

Also the string appears to be Nylon and is about 1/32" diameter.

    100 machines and counting...
