Default At my wits end with this Taiyo Bowling

ANY help, that ANYONE can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!

With everything being written in Japanese, I have no idea what any of the switches are for.

I've got a keyswitch on the CPU that I know is for switching the difficulty level, but somehow I got the machine stuck in this mode, even with the key off.

I don't know what the 2 slide switches are for, or what the "switch behind the cover" is for either.

I've also got a 3-position slide switch located near the top of the machine...no idea what it's for either.

Right now, I have the machine stuck in 1-6 difficulty setup mode.

Welcome to PachiTalk! Thanks for joining our forum.

Pictures are always worth 1,000 words, so it may help to provide a picture of your machine as well as some pictures of the switches you mention. I am a "vintage" guy and don't know much about the modern machines, but I'm sure one of our modern machine enthusiasts will be along shortly to ask you some questions and provide you with some suggestions.

Again, Welcome to our online community. Please visit us daily and post often.

The top 3 position switch is probably the volume control. The normal way of leaving the odds setting is to hold down the start knob on the fron for a few seconds, THEN turn the key to off.

"How To Set the Skill Levels of Your Pachislo
    HOW CHANGE ODDS:

    "TURN YOUR MACHINE OFF FIRST"

    1. Locate internal key switch, and insert key.
Note: In order to change odds, machine must be in idle mode with no tokens/coins or credits being played and off.

    2. Turn "reset" key switch to on, to access programming mode.

    3. Turn on machine now.

    4. Depending on machine type, a number from 1 to 6 will be displayed on one of the LED meters on front door. (please note on some models the numbers could be displayed inside the machine)

    5. Locate and push Skill button. Depress button and notice movement of number being displayed in LED meter.

    6. Once desired level is displayed (1 to 6), push down on play handle (Joy Stick) for 10 seconds, and depress both "BET CREDITS" and "COLLECT CREDITS" buttons to lock odds level into machine memory.

    7. Turn "reset" key back to off.

    8. Machine should immediately initialize. If not, turn power switch to the OFF position, wait 15 seconds and turn power switch back to ON position.

Also just to confirm some additional info (from member Chrisdice) regarding hard reset

Two switches on the power supply:
    - One requires a soft reset at the end of a bonus.
    - The other pays out all tokens at the end of a bonus.

For these switches in most cases off is in the down or right position. The for off and on are:

    無 = off

    有 = on

    3-position switch, located up top:

    Power supply switches:

I am the one who modded the toggle switch, so I know it is done correctly. The machine acted up before the switch swap, and worked correctly after the swap.

Not a machine I own, so generic info

3 positon switch is the volume, with RH being quietest, LH loudest.

The last picture looks a bit like fuse holders, but can't be sure. I can make out the word safety but can't see the last few characters on the side

try removing one when the power is off.

They're just screws. Each one was inserted in part way, each one a different depth. 2 are missing.

I don't see any electrical connections touching the screws.

I was bale to get the machine reset, using similar techniques to what was listed above.

If I recall, I had to hold on that red button, hold down the spine reels knob, and turn the setup switch off. Then turn the power off.

However, that put the token bin into full rapid-fire spit out every token mode.

Resetting the machine a 2nd time put it into play mode.
