    Heres a sort of update.

I won 2 different lots, One from YJA the other from Rakuten.

The on screen account is split into 2 sections Yahoo Japan Auctions and Other shops and services, I now have an item in each one.

Clicking on the YJA winning bids brings up your bidding/won page.

    fj1.jpg

Shows item name (click is a link back to the original auction page) Sellers name and item number. Inital cost and date of winning. The end box shows either a tick or a cross to indicate if its in stock yet. Mine isn't

    fj.jpg

The other services has the same basic layout, But the seller is listed in the item column. And there is an additional Order No. column. This is a link to your purchase form. Item link, purchase price etc. With the information for Charge 1 ( I took mine out of the deposit.) Bank fees and service fees, plus domestic shipping cost.

When I checked the status on my iPhone this morning, both machine and tokens had arrived. I want to try and beat the Christmas and New Year shut down, so instantly filled out a shipping request. I asked to pay extra and have the package double boxed with bubble wrap. Now waiting for the final bill before they ship. They say 2 working days. So maybe Monday or Tuesday I'll get the invoice. Being shipped to my office address as we have a large warehouse facility there.

Eager to hear the verdict. I only have a few way smaller sized items waiting for me at FJ.

Not including this one I have 3 packages coming from Japan that should arrive soon. One from Juno, one from SMJ and one from Rakuten Global. Should all be here by the end of the year depending on customs officers.

    ...

During my lunch break the other day I was playing with the shipping calculator, with shocking results, I found out, that the weight didn't really matter that much as I was getting the same results for a 30 kg as a 45 kg package, But I was using the size 90 x 60 x 60 cm or approx 3' x 2' x 2'
You add one centimeter to any of these and the price jumps up by half again. Or in UK terms a jump from £200 to £300 for that extra centimeter (just used as reference). Now I was worried that I asked for it to be double packed.

Today (after I had left for work) I got the email stating that the package was ready and my final total (Not including any import duty)

The package weighed in at 46.82 kg with dimensions of 91 x 57 x 53cm. This is for one pachislo machine, 1000 tokens and one coin tray

Total cost of Charge 2 (internal shipping, plus re packaging plus international shipping costs)

    27,518 yen ($267 - £163 - 194 Euro)

    fp2.jpg

Charges now paid add awaiting my tracking number.

Oh also FJ give you 3 days to pay your shipping costs or they start charging you 100 yen per day up to a maximum of 30 days, then its bye bye products with no refund, So make sure you have the shipping funds ready and waiting before asking for goods to be sent.

Well during the day it's gone from Japan to China, then India, a quick stop in France and now in the UK. Estimated delivery still says Friday. I might be lucky and get it tomorrow (Thursday) It's being delivered to my office as they are use to getting large international packages. I don't actual work from the office. But I'm scheduled up there tomorrow afternoon, so fingers crossed.

As planned It was delivered to the office on Thursday about 5 minutes before I got there I managed to get it in the back of the van, But it is heavy.

Got it home and safely into the games room/wifes store room

Outer layer of bubble wrap with the large bubbles covered in fragile tape and a sign saying this way up.

Under which is the outer box. Opened up to reveal the inner box. There isn't alot of room for more bubble wrap between the 2 boxes but there was some.

    DSC02144_zps98199758.jpg

Slid the inner box out and opened it to reveal the machine,

The box in front of the screen holds the tokens and there was a large but of polystrene over the start knob.

So that was Thursday and this is Friday

I double checked the data plate and confirmed this machine has a 100v input not 24v (Something everyone should check before plugging in)

    DSC02164_zpsbb08ba27.jpgDSC02165_zps15a335c9.jpg

During the day, I picked up a maplins power transformer ready for plugging in

    and away we go.

I'm going to have to do something about this one as it is loud, I mean really really loud, I use to pachis without volume controls but this one blows the rest of them out the water.

And some random pictures of the inside switches

Well I guess I should do a review. The machine was well packed in the box with no room for it to rattle around and get damaged. Service is easy and automated (For YJA) so as long as you have a deposit. You can bid on your own items in your own time. Fees are inline with others. Main fee is cheaper than Juno, but there are other fees on top.

A slo is easier to pack and ship than a pachinko due to its box nature anyway. How they do on a pachinko might be different due to its open back. But will be interesting to see. My only problem with Juno is his packaging. Others have mentioned it too. But you can't beat his service. As consumers I guess we have our choices. I think mine will be, use FJ for whole machines and Juno for smaller items or used parts dealers.

This thread has been very informative. I think I'll go with your advice to try and get a Ghost in the Shell pachinko after the new year. I guess I can start setting up my FJ account now.
The Macross cel I received from Juno could have been packed better. Luckily nothing was broken and I was able to snap parts back into place.
    Thank you as well Stompp.

I guess I should finish this thread off with the totals so anyone else can budget using this service,
I rang Fedex today to see if there were any charges for my package. There were an extra £20.22 duty to pay.

So for a pachislo with an auction price of 5800 yen (not including any shipping) plus 1000 tokens (I'mnot including the UK step down transformer brought locally)

The final price from auction to door is

    £233.80 - $385.66 - 280.07 Euros

If you deduct the tokens. Cost of machine alone.

    £217.05 - $358.00 - 259.93 Euros

Although I did get an email from FJ this month stating that Fedex are putting up their charges by 5% in the new year.
That would add an extra £6.14 - $10.13 - 7.36 Euro to the bill.

So am I pleased. Well Yes. I got a modern pachislo for under £250 and it arrived in good shape, Works great (played it for a couple of hours today) And in the pachi baron lands of the UK its probably one of the newest in the country.

Well, I haven't picked up any pachinko through FJ yet, but I can put FJ and SMJ head to head and say that even with the 5% upping of the FedEx costs FJ still wins by a mile. Just got 11.5 kg (12 items) shipped via FedEx from FJ. Box size roughly 55x45x40 cm. Cost just under 9000 yen (about $85). Also got a shipment from SMJ (a Taito Type X2 unit, weights about 8 kg, size of a desktop computer). Shipped by SAL, cost $110.

Bummer I didn't change to FJ before getting that one. Adding to that, SMJ's fees are way higher than FJ's. Ex. the Type X2 unit; SMJ fees were $16, with FJ they would have been about $7.

In total I would have saved about $45 using FJ instead of SMJ, plus I would have gotten it shipped via FedEx instead of SAL

Being fair, and that no one from SMJ can defend themselves here, I should also point out that I've had many shipments using SMJ and all have be very well packaged and I've never had any fear in ordering a cel or desktop unit through them. Also FJ say they will not ship adult items. I don't know if that means you can't access the adult section of YJA through their website. or its just a footnote in the forbidden items. I've found a few of my figures in the adult section, when there was no need to be. I think as they were in that section. I got them for a better price, than if they were in the anime section. Also Cutie Honey cels sometimes appear in the adult section too. And purchased in the normal way using SMJ

Oh, don't search for pachinko there though. Its not a pretty sight.

My bad. I wasn't my meaning to rain on their services. I've been using SMJ for a long time and can also vouch for their impeccable handling of merchandise. Always very well packed. What I simply did was comparing costs. I'd say SMJ and FJ are on par on many levels.

Anyway, these are four key points that (IMHO) puts FJ in front of SMJ:
    - Level of information and functionality of their web site
    - Deposits are instantaneous
    - Competitive pricing on FedEx shipping
    - Lower fees over the entire price range

Still I would not hesitate to recommend SMJ to anyone. They offer service that works.
