Seven Jack Pachislo Hopper issue

Hi!
First of please be gentle, I'm new here! haha Anyways, I'm having some issue with a recently acquired Seven Jack machine, namely the hopper. I do have another machine but it's rather different than the Jack. I also have several pinball machines and video games, and a background in electronics. But without any paperwork or a whole ton of knowledge in pachislo machines, I'm at a bit of an impasse. The machine works fine when the hopper is turned off and the machine plays from stored credits. However, when the hopper is in the circuit I get an error immediately. I have tried several different resets and different setting to no avail. It seems to be the equivalent of an E6 error, tho it looks more like a C or sideways U. There is power going to the hopper, but it seems like the transformer doesn't want to engage. There is power to the small board on the hopper, and I have gone thru it to make sure nothing is jammed. Basically is the problem I'm having indicative of a faulty hopper transformer? Or could it be something else that I'm missing/not aware of? Any info or help would be greatly appreciated. I will do my best to provide any helpful information I can. The story goes that it was working fine and it was being played when the error siren began going off, and it sat unused for a number of months until I came along.

I guess the photocell on the hopper is faulty or blocked making the machine think that there is something in the way. But I'm more of a ball man myself

Thank you for the warm welcome, and I agree with both of you. I generally prefer pachinko or pinball machines but this was a good price even not properly functioning.
