Default An Abused Pachi Finds a Good Home: 1999 Heiwa Dolphin Ring

The ebay ad was terse: "It works". However, the price was very sweet at only $10 plus $35 shipping, so my wife got it for me as a Christmas present.

It arrived today. Crated. Loosely. In this mess: 20131104_212144_a.jpg With nary any padding save a couple now-loose scraps of cardboard.

Needless to say, it was damaged in transit. The most visible damage was the payout hopper, with the one end completely shattered. 20131104_210316_a.jpg20131104_210336_a.jpg And yes, that's a loose nail from the box whose home I haven't found yet.

The plastic around the overflow tray was also damaged and cracked, though not as badly: 20131104_210107_a.jpg

LOTS of stuff came loose and went cockeyed during the rough ride this guy endured. I actually had to remove and reseat the cell! After that came the shooter test. Small miracle, that worked. Then the payout test. Jackpots would register, but no payout. I had to go through practically every diagnostic code the thing had to offer - E4, E1, E3, E5, all without a manual, and check every connection and put the jackpot ball path back together - finally, it came down to one of the main connectors not being seated properly, and after that, the grateful machine is paying out splendidly!

I've still not hit a fever with it yet, so I still need to verify that the fever door opens and closes properly, but at least it seems I have my second working modern pachinko, for under $50, plus it's a gift!

The abuse of this poor guy started with the conversion kit installation. Someone had the brilliant notion to install the transformer directly below the ball-out chute. 20131104_210241_a.jpgThat's going to have to be moved.

So, this new machine is in need of some serious cleaning, some restoration, and now, some minor repairs. Does anyone have a compatible payout hopper they are willing to part with? Hopefully any late '90's Heiwa tray will do.

Also, if anyone has some tech spec links available, or other information about this model such as a name for the frame type, or whether it supports a battle counter, I'd appreciate it!

    Thanks!

If you can't find a replacement tray, you can still fix it with a good epoxy.finally 002.jpgI have had excellent results using it to repair damaged trays.007.jpg008.jpg This one was missing pieces.I added a 12 gauge copper wire for strength that was unnecessary.experiment 035.jpgThis tray had a clean break with no missing parts.SBC2 001.jpgSBC2 002.jpgSBC2 005.jpgAfter the simple repair I buried the break in a thick layer to reinforce it...since it was on the back.finally 004.jpg This was also missing pieces. I am happy with how it turned out!

Well, I managed to put the tray back together, one piece at a time.

It seems like it will hold under the weight of the balls. I suppose only time will tell. Now that it is fixed, I will not see this machine again until Christmas.

Also, the seller agreed to refund a good portion of the total cost due to the shipping damage, so it's even more awesome!
