Default Sankyo error 3 and beeping

Hi guys, great forum – time for my first post J

I’ve got a Sankyo machine I brought back from Tokyo 12 yearsago, it was working then – now just beeps with error 3. See photos, not sure of the model etc…..
I’ve checked all fuses, ball runs, etc. Couple of strange things….. When I use a 24vpower source, the beeping and error 3 starts but when I turn on the on/offswitch on the machine nothing else much happens. However if I use a 15v powersource I still get the error 3 and beeping but the reels spin, music plays andthere’s a 1-2-3 in the front digital display – doesn’t seem like there’s enoughpower to shoot a ball though……..

I’ve taken the pay-out unit out and made sure there are nojams and replaced connections etc – still no luck. Apart from a small white reset switch underthe digital error display I can’t find any other reset button??

    Any help appreciated……….

Been playing around with it a bit more. Seems to bee something to do with power? Shoots balls with 24v 1.a feed but reels don't spin - using 15v 1a feed reels spin and music plays but balls don't shoot...

Well in respect to your picture, the number 3 error is regarding the card reader. Do you have a card reader emulator/dongle installed? If yes, is it properly seated in the socket? Is it functional?

Is your transformer rated for 220-240 VAC?

Where are you getting the 15 volts from?

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I have a dongle attached, I assume it's working. I originally tried a 15v DC power source I had, if I connect that then the reels spin and I get sound, but no balls firing. I have bought a 240V - 24v DC 1.5Amp power source, with that connected I get the balls to shoot but not the reels to spin... I'm wondering what power is actually needed. I assume there's only one power source needed, connected to the lead with the 24V label on it... Do I need more than 1.5Amps?IMG_2118.jpgIMG_2119.jpg

I believe it should be 24VAC as opposed to DC...what have you been using? I am a vintage pachinko guy...so this is what I think...others may know better. to PACHITALK!

The machine itself requires 24 volts alternating current (24 VAC). What is the device that has the red, blue, green 24 volts direct current (24 VDC) label on it/is it a transfomer? If so, you need a 240 VAC primary (input voltage) transformer stepping down to 24 VAC (outout voltage) for the machine to operate properly.

The black characters on the white sticker on the cord say "24 volts utilized" I am guessing that 24 VAC should be provided through that cord. In the chart in the photo, the top line says DC30V. Rectified 24 VAC can make 30 volts DC.

Ah that might make sense - the cord in the first photo is the main power source I think, it originally had the transformer in pic2 attached to it in Japan (Presume that output says 'utilized' too??) . I replaced it with a 24vDC power source, so think what you're saying is I need an 24V AC one. I'll get one and see if that helps. Think those other coloured red/blue/green terminals are for wiring up in the pachinko parlour, they've never been connected to anything as far as I'm aware... IMG_2123.jpgIMG_2124.jpg

Do you know how many Amps it'll need??

4 or 5 amps should be good.

The old transformer had a 100 VAC input and 8VAC and 24VAC output. The current for the 8VAC was 6 amps, the current for the 24VAC was 2 amps. If you have difficulty finding a replacement transformer, consider getting a 240VAC to 100VAC step-down transformer to supply 100VAC to your old transformer. Like polejock92 said, 4 or 5 amps should be good. The more amps, the better.

Excellent guys - bought a 24VAC transformer and works perfectly, only 1.5A though but already had a fever? Just as well I have several thousand balls. Once I'd unblocked the pay-out slots, working fine... great machine, lights and sound. Thanks for the help ...
