Yes, the seller verified the card reader is included.

So even if I wire it up, am I going to need special smart cards for it?

Unless you get some prepaid cars from Japan, The only use I can see it being is you will not need a bypass dongle (Maybe) But if the shooter doesn't work, You know where to look first

he may be using ebay's autobid and maybe a buck is the bid increment?

Maybe, there is a time delay of 10 seconds to two minutes between the bids.

If it was an automatic thing, I would imagine a second or less between bids. I have never heard of being able to configure the increment of autobidding. Or maybe he is using an external bidding service. In either case, kind of odd for someone with zero feedback? I mean, if you were just starting on ebay, wouldn't you be more cautious than to use an advanced feature or service when you are not even experienced with the auction in the first place.

Ok, maybe this is a second ebay account he is using, but still, that in itself seems out of the ordinary.

Ok, I guess I am just over-thinking this all. I just hate it when a shill is used to up bids. Happened to me before, caught the seller at it, and extorted him to get the item at the price it really should have been won at.

I am willing to go higher on my bidding, its that I want to bid against real bidders, not flakes or phonies.

If you look at the sellers feedback for other items that he has sold. Select an item and view the bidding history and see if the same name comes up. Or a different name has done the same thing.

You might be right Drunkenclam.

The seller has many items up for bids right now. The pachinko and a foot massager are the only items with bids. Both have rushes of multiple bids by a single bidder in a short period of time. However, there does not appear to be any past history of this behavior with this seller.

The bidder in the pachinko auction appeared to get an ebay account so that he could bid in this auction, so maybe he is a legit amateur. If this is the case, he will chicken out eventually. Lets hope I don't have to go too high to scare him off. Conversely, There are more pachinko alternatives coming around. I might just stop bidding with him in the lead and let him win this pachinko.

Ouch, I am sooooooo sorry and feel really bad now! I am the top bidder but before I saw this. I think I might be Mr. Bad here, but not on purpose. I did not see your post here because I was away from my PC on vacation and bidding from my phone app. After I found it came with the card reader and seeing the price, I really wanted it so just started bidding. Plus I liked the little anime girl art. I put my max bid at $75(I think) and I'll stop bidding. Sorry man, if I had access to a PC while I was camping I would have seen this post and stopped but this site does not really work on my phone. I tried to see if I could retract my bid and it seems I can't so all you have to do is beat my $75 max bid.

Just an FYI about eBay so you don't think I was cheating. You can just bid any amount or... you can set your max bid so it will auto bid in the minimum increments needed to beat others until your max price is met. It's a feature of the site not a cheat. (Example: if I bid $75 on a $30 item, it will auto outbid anyone that makes an offer by a dollar until my $75 max is hit. Then a option of new max can be set if wanted.) I had a max bid of like $60 then got beat so moved it up to $75.
