Default Installing battle counters on Eleco/Aruze machines

I've ordered some battle counters of YJA, which are current on route. I understand that I'll need to splice the power cables from the counter into the 24v transformer inside the machine.

The problem is, I have both a Beast Sapp and Hanabi Hyakkei machine that don't have an external transformer. As I understand it, they're built directly into the power supply?

Do I need to buy some 24v transformers for each of these games to hook the battle counters up to, or can I just splice into the cord that is coming out of the power supply that plugs into the wall?

I have never added a battle counter to a pachislo. I was under the impression they were for pachinkos. I am really looking forward to seeing how this turns. I may want to do the same for my Beast Sapp.

pachislot counters keep track of how many spins and Big Bonus (BB) and Regular Bonus (RB)

I think some slots have a large muiltiplug connectors unlike pachinko that most (execpt kyoraku) that have multi sockets

Just wanted to update with a photo of what I was talking about, to hopefully make things clearer.

    cords.jpg

Red arrow in the photo is pointing to the cable that plugs into the electrical socket, whose source is coming directly out of the machine's power supply. At the same time, a thinner green/yellow cord (green arrow) is coming out of the same outlet. It's not visible in the photo, but the green/yellow cord has been cut. It doesn't connect to anything. Not sure if it's a ground wire?

To reiterate, I'm wondering if I can just open up that thick black cable and splice my two wires from the battle counters into that?

I wouldn't risk it. I would buy a 1A 24vac transformer and run the counter off that. If you know the model of the counter you should find the voltage and current spec. 1A is a bit large for 1 counter. Unless you can link the 2 together.

Just wanted to post an update to this thread. I've received my battle counters today!
    battle.jpg

Before I actually start any work, I just wanted to get some confirmation on the wiring.

This seems the be the cable the plugs into the board itself to collect the data, I assume? It's separated off from the others.
    cables2.jpg

In terms of these wires that are bunched together, I assume the thicker red and yellow cables are the power? Do I need to worry about the other two or are they just ones that would have had parlour use for routing when someone hits the call button?
    cables1.jpg

As well, in a parlour setting are these cords usually daisy-chained to each other?

Yes when they are in a parlour they are dasiy chained together with an end lamp to inform staff of any issues, so they don't have to keep looking down long aisles looking for a problem.
I'll see if I can dig out any info on these counter later. As time for work, But you should be right, Mine have a thick yellow and red cable that all links togther and then at each plug a smaller yellow and red goes to each counter.

Here is the vid I made up when I was testing my data counters all synced together. Featuring the end light and all counters flashing in turn on jackpot

Thanks for the info so far. Glad I wasn't crazy about the daisy-chaining thing. Figured there was a reason for having two sets of the same wires.

Any additional info you can provide would be great. Thanks again!

I have a Ski-Matik if this is your Stop Board which the Battle Counter connects to (CN4) A small file on the Ski-Matik is also posted. Pins 1 through 6 are the data lines for the counter. 7 and 8 are 24 volt remote reset lines. If this would help you please PM me your e mail address and I will send you a Hi Res copy of this. Please understand that this is to help you understand how the Stop Board works. Any connections you make are of your own doing. Please do not hold me responsible for a Melt Down.

More info on Pins 1 through 6.:
    Pin 1 - Token in
    Pin 2 - Token out
Pin 3 - Regular Bonus Signal
Pin 4 - Big Bonus Signal
Pin 5 - CT Bonus SIgnal
Pin 6 - External Ground Common

Just wanted to report that I've successfully got the battle counters running on my two Elecro/Aruze machines:

    battle-counters-001.jpg

If there's an interest, I can take some pictures and do a follow up post on what I did, as it was a bit different than machines with a normal 24v transformer in them.

Thanks to everyone who posted help and opinions.
