If you are speaking of the single digit LED right next to the "open" door that may be the sub-roulette spin counter.

Right above the LED display there is a "passthrough" gate. This usually starts something called the Sub-roulette spin. What the sub-roulette controls is the "tulip" that is installed in the start pocket. If the sub-roulette spin is successful the tulip will open and shut for .5 seconds which will allow a ball near the start pocket to enter the start pocket. The number will either represent another single digit display that it has to match to cause the tulip to cycle, or it may simply cycle from 0 to 4 depending on how many times it passed through the gate and how many sub-roulette spins you have banked.

During normal play, the sub-roulette isn't that helpful. The results of a successful spin only open the tulip for a 1/2 second and only gives you a spin.

But if you have finished a fever "bonus" round, you machine will either be in a Kakuhen mode where your odds for the next fever mode is 10 times better than the initial odds and you get start tulip support until the next fever round., or a 100 spin mode where the tulip will open and close alternately during the sub-roulette spin for the next 100 spins of the reels.. This makes the passthrough very important. With the tulip opening and closing constantly you have a much better chance of hitting another spin. Also because you get so many additional spins, you rarely lose any "ground" during theis mode. (you win as much as you shoot).

Put a ball through the gate and see if the number cycles.

I hit it! When it's activated the door opens to allow 10 balls in(counting up to 0), then it closes for 5 seconds and reopens. After it reopens, it flashes another number 1 to 0(zero being 10) each time. I was able to cycle it past zero and it goes back to one counting back up.

I also thought I had a jam so checked out the back and opened a few parts. No jam, just a few balls that fell out of place. I learn a lot. Thanks everyone for the help!
