Unhappy Help with my new AKB48 Machine...

Guys i really need your help - the new AKB48 Kyoraku Machine machine that i bought does not work...

When i was not at home my nephew plugged the pachinko to my 220v socket without my transformer (which lowers it to 100v) of course this caused a the machine to stop working...

I took the machine to my electronics guy (who fixes Pinball but not Pachinkos). and he identifies the problem as follows:

    1) The fuze was burned (can be replaced easily)

2)The more serious problem is that he says the BIpolar diode also got damaged...he said that he tried to look for it with his usual supplier but he couldn't find it according the (Japanese) serial number on the BIpolar diode...the serial number on the BIpolar is: SC550B my question is do you know what kind of BIpolar he should look for or what is the parallel BiPolar Diode i should look for?

3)This is not definite but If the whole Power board got damaged - what are my solutions? (the serial number of the card is Kyoraku BBXX1-P4)

4)Does someone has the Frame Manuel or knows where to find the Manuel for this New Kyoraku Frame - it is called "Big Surprise" or BIGサプライズ

Thank you very much for your help!

Ive attached some pictures of the damaged component - any help will be appreciated!

Oh no! But you might have gotten lucky. The diode might have saved the rest of the machine. The symbol for it makes me think you could use two Zener diodes instead. The question is, what voltage?

Judging from this data sheet, it looks to be a 500 watt 5 amp surge suppressor. Look at page 2 and 3.

I can't seem to upload the pdf. Here is the URL:

So the "B" means bipolar. Maybe the more electronically inclined here can suggest a solution.
Here is another data sheet with specs.

Sorry to here about that. It's behond my expertises. Although I think you should take this as a warning and replace the plug and sockets on your machines and transformers to prevent this happening again. It seems once a month a machine is damaged as the wrong voltage has been fed to the machine. My machines have had a XLR plug fitted that will only fit a XLR socket, so no chance of being plugged in to a wall outlet. Unlike the 2 pin plug as fitted as standard to most machines.

I hope you can get it fixed. After all the drama you had with this machine it can't end like this.

Here are some you have a chance of ordering over the internet.. or getting where you are at an electronics store. They have them at the store near me. (But then i live in ye-old Silicon Valley...)

    http://www.nteinc.com/specs/4900to49...nte4903_99.pdf

The #4947 has around 40v breakdown voltage, which that SC550B has in its spec.

I guess I gave you the wrong page number, see page 7 of the pdf in my earlier post.
The NTE4951 might work too, if the NTE4947 is not available.

My electronics guy found the appropriate diode and replaced the fuze he said that now every time he inserts a 115 V (since he doesn't have a 100V) the fuze get burned... Now, I have a 110 V at home and my other machines work with it with no problem... Can this machine be different? Does it have to be a 100 V precisely? Another factor is that now the power card is not connected to the machine ( for testing reasons) can that be significant?
    Thank you!

I hope he's using a 24v transformer and not feeding 110v to the machine.

    Mosheste,

Forgive me if this is comes across as basic as I know you have several moderns and may already be aware of this.

Almost all currently produced modern pachinkos are designed to use 24 VAC. This is the common voltage used within the parlors. When we purchase these machines for "home" use, the importer will almost always add a third party 24VAC transformer to the bottom of the case, the output which goes to the machine and the input designed for the normal voltage used in the country that the importer is located in.

When I buy a machine from a US importer (like akimono.com) , this transformer is already included in my purchase. As a result, I often can plug the unit into my wall directly after unpacking the machine.

When buying a machine directly from Japan, this transformer is rarely included since we are basically "bypassing" the importer. The machine, therefore, will be expecting an input of 24 volts. If we provide it with 110V or whatever our "normal" voltage from our homes, we risk great damage to the machine and the escape of the "magic smoke" from several of the electronic components in the system. Therefore it is important that we purchase our own transformer and install it into the machine.

I will leave that to other folks to offer their opinions. Machines range in their draw dependent on the amount of "flash" they have. I am not at home so I can't find the rating that's on my Star Wars machine. Perhaps others here can provide you with the 24VAC transformers that they use on their machines.

5amp to 8amp newer machines tend to need more than 5amp.

i do have some moderns running on 4amp and 5amp with no problems
