    Default Bead blasting

    In a previous post, we discussed the various methods of media blasting metal parts. At the time, I didn't have anything to demonstrate on, but I've gotten a badly water damaged Nishijin, and I shot some parts tonight. Here's the before and after:

    This was done with glass beads. It has the desired effect of not degrading the metal. Some media will actually eat away at the metal. Useful for etching, but not really desirable in this application.

    Though now that you have done that you need to either redo the zinc plate or give all the parts a coat of clear. Otherwise they will rust again. But it looks like it works well if one was preping for painting back parts (like a model A chutes).
