Default How does my Sammy pachislo keep memory, even when there is no power?

I was thinking about this the other day. I have a 2003 Sammy derby boy pachislo, and I noticed that when I keep the machine unplugged the next time I plug it in it will remember how many credits I had the last time I played it. I looked but I couldn't find any coin battery. Does the machine have onboard non-volatile memory, or does it rely on a coin battery (volatile memory) to keep its data saved? If so, id like to replace it.

I was thinking the same thing about my Star Wars Pachinko. It remembers the machine state even after it's unplugged. I would imagine it uses flash memory. Removable flash memory has been available since the 90's.

The amount flash memory needed to store machine state would be really small. My pachinko has a hard reset which probably resets the machine state. Perhaps your Pachislo has a hard reset as well.

The use of flash memory would be a way to prevent people from trying to unplug the machine to gain an advantage.

its a capacitor, that holds a small charge to keep the memory and slowly drains.

when they get older many machines will need a reset if they are off too long!

Yep, Lucky is absolutely right. My JAWS machine has remained in a fever for a couple of weeks with it the turned on and off.
