Default Should I buy this pachinko?

The owner of this pachinko says his kids were playing with it when an "alarm" sounded on it. Now nothing works but the lights and the "alarm" sounds after it has been turned on for a few minutes. Could it be that a ball is just stuck somewhere?

I would think it was just a minor problem

it could just need a reset, or top rear tray may be out of balls.

it should be easy troubleshooting something like that.

just don't fix it while your there or the price may go up

The way I see it. The price has to be of something that you don't mind losing. Or you have a back up plan. Just incase the simple fix doesn't work.

Don't you guys think it's just the sensor when you close the glass. My Harmone used to scream at me when I opened the machine!

Thanks for the replies. I paid $40 for the machine. When I plug it in, the lights come on, the wheels spin through their cycle and then the beeping starts. It's two beeps, pause, two beeps, pause and so on. I've checked all of the connections, made sure the door is closed, and pressed the reset button a lot of times. The balls will launch but the launcher stops sometimes and seems kind of weak. Any ideas?

Question Re: Should I buy this pachinko?

Lots of balls in every hopper?

Cleaned all the guides and ball launcher ramp? (a rag and water is fine - no chemicals needed)
There is always another machine around the corner...

Does it payout. Some machines will make a noise if it thinks the bottom tray is full and stop payouts. You
say you closed the door. But did you actually test the door switch.

Hmm. I say "think like a kid". Look for stuff that those little curious fingers may have messed with. The door switches are a good idea - esp if junior kept cracking it open to cheat. That... Or things jammed where they don't belong? Kix cereal in the payout mech? Legos lodged in pockets? Daddy's pliers jammed in the reels? (Ok... That would be obvious)

Just a thought... But you know... Sun Tzu... Know your enemy yadda yadda.

a YouTube or other vid of it starting up may help... You can also try the old risky-yet-simple rotate the machine 360 about the Z axis to see if some errant balls (or Cheetos) dislodge.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies and advice. I'm not sure what did it, but it's working! I took it apart, checked all of the connections and fuses, drained it of balls (including those in odd places), put it back together, filled it again and then hit that reset button once more. It's working great!

I also found a couple screws which allow me to adjust the strength and sensitivity of the ball launcher. It's working well again too.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hey Guys,

The machine works great for the most part. I do have a couple issues/questions. Please refer to the photos.

First, the tulip (2) never opens. I've confirmed that the sensor (1) above it is working, but when a ball falls through it, nothing happens. I assume that it should cause the tulip to open. I've checked the connections and the board for any burn marks, and everything looks fine.

Second, there is a device on attached to the main processor board that has a slot for a key. Above this slot are three LEDs. I've been able to turn the keyhole using some small screw drivers. When the "key" is turned all the way to the left, the third LED turns on. If they "key" is turned to the right and stopped in the second or third position, none of the three LEDs are turned on. I assume that this controls the game mode. Does anyone have any insight as to what this does?

    Thanks agian.

one of the other pockets controls number 2, it opens randomly,

there should be a light counter on the cell that will go from one light to four which is the max you can bank.

I can't answer your questions because this age of machine is unknown to me, But Wow I love the art work on that cel. I hope you get it sorted.

It's amazing how many "broken" machines are sold simply because the owner doesn't try and figure out what went wrong. Especially on a mechanical machine. But then, if they did, we wouldn't be able to get these machines for dirt cheap now, would we?

That center pocket probably opens when you get sort of a "fever" stage. I know it's not a modern, but probably works like one.

    Just a couple more questions.

There is a door about two thirds of the way down and centered (circled in the picture). This door opened and closed several times while I was in some kind of fever mode. Inside the door is a screen with a number on it. When the door opened the first time, the number was 0. The second time was number 1. All the way up to number 9 and then it repeated. Does someone know what this number represents?

This question should be easy. There is "5&14" printed on the front of the machine. I assume that the number 5 represents the number of balls I'm awarded for each jackpot. What does the number 14 represent?

I still can't figure out what that keyhole on the back does.

Thanks again. I'm loving this machine.
