Default Looking for Nishijin Model A Supply tray

I just picked up a Nishijin Model A recycler from Craigslist for 50 bucks. All of the mechanics seem to operate properly, It requires a nice clean up and a replacement front overflow switch cover (the switch is intact just missing to cover piece).

However the biggest issue is that it is missing the top supply tray. Only the aluminum ramp exists. I need the tray so that it will operate properly.

Does anyone have an idea where I can find one.

    to Pachitalk!

Sorry I do sell parts occasionally but I don't like to sell trays because they are usually cracked or missing and I have quite a few machines that need them.

I do know of one that is for sale though. PachiParts Item 822236460 - VERY HARD TO FIND! TOP HOPPER ASSEMBLY FOR YOUR NISHIJIN TYPE" A" NO CRACKS NEE

There is also and ebay seller who is constantly selling parts in washington isbjorn35 | eBay you might want to contact him and see if he has one.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask. And once again welcome to PT.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Vintage Pachinko had the parts I needed and they are on their way.

I plan to install the jackpot supply tray, install the front overflow switch cover, replace the playfield bumper, clean up the parts, polish the pins and install a light kit. After that I may sand the top of the cabinet and call it done.

I also may try to clean up the chrome a bit. It has slight corrosion on the front panel so I may try to get that buffed out. Any suggestions for the chrome work would be appreciated.

I'm drawing the line at removing the nails and installing a new playfield, I think that is far beyond my capability and I don't want to break what already works :-)

Here's some pics of the current condition. As you can see, it's not that far away from really looking good. Thank god all the mechanics still work. These things were built like tanks.

    Not bad for $50 bucks.

Nice to finally see some pics of your machine.

What you have there is a 1971 Nishijin Model A, Kyoto (Green Bowling w/ white pins). Let me explain what parts of that mean, 71 is the build year; Kyoto is the factory it was built in (Tokyo was the other); the center has the green lens with white bowling pins (other variances have a purple lens or red pins with white stripes.)

I have the same machine, I fully restored mine and put a custom background on it. I love my machine. The game play on the bowling machines are fun, especially when you get a strike. Below are some pics of mine.

As for polishing chrome, it actually doesn't look too bad on your machine. I'd suggest getting some turtle wax chrome polish or the similar and just buffing it out by hand. If there is pitting what I do is I use wet / dry sandpaper, start at about 600 grit and move up to 2000. Others use steel wool but I don't like the stuff no matter how fine of the wool it will leave scratches using sandpaper will leave less scratches when done properly. (Done properly I mean light pressure using the paper wet, and just slowly working areas and being careful not to cut through the chrome plate revealing copper below.)

Yes, Getting a strike is special. All 4 lotus open up, and if you are good, and get the bottom center lotus before the top center, you'll net a total of six payouts. Otherwise you get four.

I also noticed a corner of the "alley" sticker in the middle peeled up a bit while wiping it down. I put it back with a little spittle, but it won't last. Any adhesive you might suggest? I was thinking a super thin layer of elmers. What do you think?

BTW... your restoration looks beautiful. How did you reapply the "certification sticker". I don't think I'll ever get mine looking that good.

Yep just use a little amount of elmers. Put it on a q-tip and spread it around.

Thanks. Your machine is stunning. Don't think I'll get mine to that level. But it should clean up nicely.

Cleanup of the Nishijin 'A' is proceeding nicely. Still awaiting the parts, they should arrive either tomorrow or early next week.

In the meantime started working on the chrome and the pins. Brasso works great for both. You can really see the difference in these shots.

Looks like your moving along nicely.

I personally don't like Brasso. It has too many fumes and I have found stuff that cleans better than it.

I use MAAS metal polish paste. It comes in a silver tube and can be found at ACE hardware. Maas® Mutli-Surface Metal Polish (91403-01) - 6 Pack - Metal Polish & Cleaners - Ace Hardware If I remember right it is about $4 or 5 a tube in the store and one tube goes a long way.

    Keep up the good work.

Being in the navy, I think I developed a Brasso Tolerance because I barely notice the fumes anymore. The front chrome is in really good shape, there was some surface corrosion I was worried about but the Brasso buffed it right out with very little effort. My only problem is that as I clean the machine up, the faded playfield will be just that more obvious. I have seen the work required for a playfield replacement and while I am sure that the satisfaction when complete is done, I am just not convinced that I would be able to:

    A. Dedicate the massive abount of time and resources required
    B. Do it without breaking the dang thing.

So, there in lies the rub. The machine will look amazing except the playfield, but...

I'm now beginning to understand the addictive nature of this hobby and I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of you guys; especially mxfaiman who showed us earlier what my machine could become...D*mn You to Hades...

But Max does have his advantages! When my wife sees another machine come into the house, I just say, "But honey, look at this guy...he has more than a hundred machines!" Of course her responds is, "Good, you can move in with him!"

Max, I hope you have room man!
