DHL Clearance Delay - Stuck in LA GAteway?

Have a pachinko coming in direct from Japan.

Looks like it made it from Japan > Hong Kong> but has been stuck in the Los Angles Gateway under 'Clearance delay'.

Real bummer since I live in the LA Area so as soon as it gets released it should not be but a day or two more untill it arives at my front door.

Question is, has anyone had one of these Clearance delay's and is this normal or should I be concerned at all?

never used dhl, But I've had things stuck in UK customs for 2 weeks before.

2 Weeks!!! Yeeesh, hope that doesn't happen but at least they did not send it back!

I wonder if they are looking through the packages or just way behind on paperwork??

Ive never had a problem with shipments from Japan but I use EMS. I did have a shipment of NOS pinball playfields from Italy get stuck in customs for a month. Frustrating but it all worked out.

A month...man I hope it doesn't come to that.

I called DHL to see if I could get any more info and the woman said she did not see anything other than just regular delay on their end (they didn't see any request for additional paperwork or any other need by customs) so hope its just run of the mill delay.

DHL rep said they would be keeping track of it and call me by 5 tomorrow to give me an update.

Never rush a govement worker, Or it will take even longer Thay are probably trying to work out what it is and what it cost

Just as an update I got the Pachinko in woohoo!

I don't know if the DHL worker was able to expedite anything but after I called them, sure enough it was processed out of customs the next day. But the cool part is that on the same day it left customs, it went to the dhl sorting facility and then straight out for delivery!?

Usually packages go to the sorting facility one day and gets sent out the next. Kind of nice that it went from customs to my doorstep on the same day! (of course I wasn't home when it was first delivered but the fast service is still appreciated!)

DHL rep also called to follow up as promised so overall the delay in customs was short, I don't think the package was opened by them but I suppose it could have been and retapped.

Anyways will post some pics of the new Pachinko I got in later...an AVP woohoo!

I've bought a couple of neo geo cd and aes consoles with games from japan and never got charged customs fees

If Customs opened it they would probably have re-sealed it with green "Customs" labeled tape. I have seen it on large orders before where half the boxed were opened and resealed. Plus a nice delay of a couple weeks. Glad to hear yours made it through the line without a closer look.
