Good question! I wouldn't mind switching my key to a rocker switch or something too!

I recently had to do this on my sakura fubuki machine. You will have to remove the powersupply first. Then you will need to 'unscrew' the key cylinder since there usually (on mine there was) a thin nut that holds the cylinder tight against the pow supp. After unscrewing the cylinder you will need to clip the wires that are going into the cylinder. After clipping the wires you will next need to solder them onto the new switch and install it into the power supply slot(make sure you get a switch similiar to the way the key cylinder locks on the power supply). And finally seal your soldered connections with liquid or regular electrical tape i prefer liquid tape as it fills in all the cracks). Your local ace hardware or truevalue will have the parts you need for less than 5 bucks. If you do not live near a hardware store im sure homedepot or lowes will have the parts as well. Happy slotting!

Does it matter which wire goes where?

Any type of single pole - on/off switch will work. Voltage / amperage usually aren't an issue, since it is usually 5v and practically no current going through these switches. An automotive switch will work fine; so will almost any other switch you can buy at radio shack..

be very careful when working inside a power supply as it can still hold power even if it is unplugged.

Unplug the machine, and STILL be careful...
    Both EXCELLENT advice!!!!

As pachislousa said, a single pole on/off switch is what you need.
They might be marked as that, or with letters SPST. Single Pole, Single Throw.
You can use other types, too... as long as you wire them correctly. But the SPST should be cheaper than the other types (SPDT, DPST, DPDT)

Which wire goes on which of the two connectors shouldn't matter for a SPST device. It's a series switch.

    Best of luck!
