Exclamation Calling all Mizuho parts machine owners

The connection tab on the left that secures the ashtray is broken. I will try to re-attach from the right side, but not sure it will hold without breaking the other side too. Hoping someone will have a parts machine laying around. Please PM me if you have a lower tray for a vintage Mizuho like this one that you will "part" with.

If you can't find a replacement, can you drill a set of holes in line and use a steel wire as a hinge pin like the Nishilins do?

It will take a 4" long bolt to really secure it. Tried Ace Hardware today and no dice on a hex head bolt that small and 4" long. Will see what I can find online. Will probably have to buy 50 of them

Allthread may work, but I really wanted to find a hex/square head bolt so it will keep from turning by biting into the chassis on the right side kind of like a carriage bolt. I'll PM you if I get stuck and can't find what I'm looking for.

Bumping this thread. I have the ashtray re-attached, but it's relatively fragile with only one side attached. I really hate to sell it like this, but it will hold as long as no one is rough with it. Anyone have an orange lower tray for a Mizuho they will part with? Anyway, here are pics of the repair and the the whole front. Now how did that lizard pic get in there...

    Yay, lizards!!

Maybe if you can't find a new piece you could just epoxy it in place..make it more of just one solid piece.. If it was solid and looked good I doubt the new owner would mind that much if the ashtray didn't flip..

I agree. Hardly anyone uses them anymore. They mainly get used to put a few lucky balls in.

Yea, it's a lot easier to see in my head than explain.

I get what your saying there. You could also use like plexi-glass as well.

Basically make an extension piece that you glue / bolt onto the plastic stub to lengthen it so you have a new mounting hole on the other side.

So here's what I did with your idea! Pretty good one at that! little time, a little grinding, a little drilling, sifting through the parts bins...when it's closed it looks like it belongs there now. Before it was a bit crooked and seemed like it would snap off at some point.

Excellent! Looks plenty strong now. And it's great to see you save a part that, by the looks of the age of this thread, was not going to be easily obtained.

    Glad I could help.

    Looks good.

    Remember kustom is kooler.

You did add some locktite right so those nuts don't thread off easily on their own.

If the next owner flips the ashtray that many times, it deserves to fall off!
