    Default Sankyo crazy combat

Just picked up this one on Craig's list, but having a little problem. The low ball indicator keeps setting off an error code (plenty of balls) and when I reset the game it keeps coming back on. Even with the power off, the low ball lights come on??? No ball jams and looking for any ideas? When I do a reset the video comes on, but won't spin, then the error code eventually comes on? I'm a little confused on this one!

Kinda what I thought LD, so I took everything apart and back together 3x. Maybe something was in the wrong spot, but these games are pretty easy to match the plugs.

Did you pull the ball counter mechanism out and clear it out good? I had a similar problem on a Bisty/Sankyo... and it wasn't until I did that and got in there with q-tips did I find the crumbled piece of aluminum ("aluminium" for you Brits ) foil that was infrequently slowing the balls by rolling through the mechanism. A tweezer later and its been golden ever since.

Only other time it happened was the day I finally had enough balls (as in metal spheres) to actually run through a fever mode "balls out" (as in testicles... metaphorically, though...) and found that when both trays are full, it misinterpreted this like: "I cannot spit out balls... therefore I have no balls... ergo, my feeder tray is empty"... and produced an empty tray message. Not a jam error. So... check those sensors too?

Thanks, will give that a shot! Payout seems to work, but like you said a partial block may cause it to fault out.

If the lights at the top are lighting (like in the second picture), I think that's a "front door open" thing. What code number is it throwing? Also, I think those lights also light up per payout (the side ones)

Hey Compirate, it's been to long...how you doing?
I'm getting an error code 5 now. The machine keeps making a center pocket sound (wheel spin) pays out, but the video doesn't change. I power off the machine and the lights to the left come on an error code 5 comes on. Hit the reset power up, and again the video won't change.
I don't think it's a door open because the center light, lights up when I open the door.

Yeah, it's been a while, lots of driving (about 150,000 miles over the last 12 months ).

Looking at the Victory manual (don't know that the codes have changed that much), 5 is a main board communication fault.

You must be only working part time now

Main board...well that kinda narrows it down. Can you post a link for the victory frame manual?

Alright, I feel a little stupid The code is still a "2", but because of the angle I was looking at it, the plastic reflected... showed a "5" or upsidedown 2

Anyway, the code only appears when I turn the power off. I clear the code, power the machine and then the LCD screen is blank. If I power it up without clearing the code, the LCD is on, but won't spin and it just keeps making the stop/center pocket sound effect. In both cases all the pockets are paying out but no video action...

'doh! Check out the manual... But then, your machine is a 1999 - so its not a Victory frame.

But since it's saying it's the payout unit... a jam in or near it... OR the payout switch is busted.. or the Front Tray switch is faulty???

So check the connections to the little module, clean it out (if you didn't already). And find that front tray switch. See if it operates - have a multimeter?

Snap some pics of the payout unit and post them... not sure if they were the same in '99 as they are in the manual.

image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgI would think the codes would be relatively the same???

Ok. Sorry for the dumb question... But is the ball stopper on top down? I can't see much from the pics except that the counter looks different than the newer sankyo ones. Connections to it are ok? Has it ever dispensed any balls since you got it? I'd still Check the tray switches (top, bottom, etc) to see if one is bad or stuck.

Ball stop is open and the game is paying out correct. I have a volt meter, but first I will have to find and remove the switches. I wonder if I can test without removing everything?

A little update...I did take apart and test the ball switches and they are all testing fine.
When the game is powered on and I'm not getting an error code, the video screen is blank an all payouts work fine. When I get the error code, the screen graphics are on, but not changing (spinning number graphics) even when ball enters the start pocket (payout occurs). I get a repeating noise that I assume is the sound of the ball in the start pocket and it just keeps repeating. And on a weirder note, the error code won't kick in until I power off the game???

Hmm... sounds liks some of the codes/errors I'm getting from my rescued computer-pachi machines.

If I ever figure THOSE out, maybe I can help you out too.
There is always another machine around the corner...
