Default pachinko hybrid game - $10 (jacksonville/orange park)

No pictures in the ad, but the text below sounds to me like he is describing a Power Flash.

pachinko hybrid electric/manual upright game of somewhat older vintage. the solinoids are stuck that operate the components from being stored, so this is a project for someone who enjoys tinkering with such things. I thought I would get "around to it" myself when I got it. its' about 4' high and 2' wide weighing about 25 lbs, sort - of making it in-between being a countertop model and commercial model, with metal balls as the pachinko projectiles and the usual round bouncy - things (electronic solenoids) behind a transparent surface (glass?). currently not working, of course. 10.00

Actually, it's in my neck of the woods, so I picked it up this morning. Turned out the guy selling it is someone I used to work with.

It's a vintage Daiichi. No solenoids or anything as stated.

Needed a thorough cleaning. Had 4 live roaches inside the ball tracks as well as egg casings and droppings throughout. I dismantled the entire back, as well as the front tray assembly and scrubbed everything!

The cell looks great. However the door frame is in pretty rough shape. Plexi needs replaced. The shooter spring tension piece is broken so I'll be looking for a new one. Added to the list of machines to retr0brite.

I filled it up with spheres, and it works pretty good. Payout rocker gets stuck sometimes, but I think it's just the 2 spheres inside, which are rusty, not rolling back to position.

Not really a vintage guy, but for the price, can't beat it.

Pictures to follow. (Not the roaches though! Sorry!)

These are the before pictures. Looking for the broken piece, but currenty working with a zip tie. Of course the index point thats missing is where the spring needs to sit for the best tension.

I restored a machine that had a broken part exactly like yours. I went to my local hardware store (Lowes) and bought some small decorative chain - similar to pocket watch chain. It only cost around $2. I connected one end to the spring, and I hooked one of the links over the nail. What I like best about this solution is that you have more tension adjustment options with each link in the chain.

Unless you are a purist and must have a factory part, this solution will do the job for you.

I'm kicking around an idea with a piece of teflon, but if it doesn't pan out I'll definitely use the chain.

Also, what do you all recommend for the rubber strip hanging beneath the metal ball ring?

The rubber strip has shrunk and is deformed to the point it's almost unusable.

I usually don't use them if they are shrunk and torn. I don't think they really do much other than to keep the glass from rubbing the track. But the nails usually stick out father than the rubber strip.

If that rubber strip is beyond salvaging, I just remove it altogether. I have never found anything suitable to replace it with.

I like the idea of nothing. Less to worry about.

Back to work for the weekend, so when I make some more progress on this, I'll post it here.

Spent the day scrubbing down the chrome frame with various grades of steel wool/vinegar. It does look better, but it's still pretty ugly. Having it re-plated is out of the question, so looking for ideas.

Got the lights working. Fortunately the wiring was intact, but had to replace the bulb sockets.

Here's what the frame looks like now.

That don't look too good. Might be a little far gone.

If you didn't do the steel wool I'd say sand it down till the rust is gone and then buff it. As long as you have a buffing wheel.
