Cannot get balls to dispense on my Taiyo Elec Maturi Apollo no.1

Hey everyone,

Just picked up a Taiyo Elec Maturi Apollo no.1 machine.

I plugged in a dongle from another of my machines to test it out. Turning the game on, it displays 0 credits perfectly fine. I'm able to add credits to the game, but pressing the ball dispense button doesn't seem to work. When pressed the number of credits flash and a little red light beside the number blinks. The credit count doesn't go down and no balls are dispensed.

I noticed on the back of the machine there appears to be a fault light on, but I cannot read the Japanese, so I have no idea what it says.

The light that is on corresponds the #2 on the above chart.

Not sure if this is related, but on the front this is also lit up:

An aside to all that: I also cannot seem to find any reset or volume control buttons anywhere on the back of the machine.

are there enought balls loaded in the hopper?? is the stoper to the payout motor down blocking the ball pathways

the pic of the whole back i cant see any balls in the right side heading to the payout motor..

my dongle acts the same way when the machine is out of balls

In the screenshot below, is the area where I've placed the red arrow the stopper for the payout motor?

With that being said, I flipped it up, like so...

... and that seemed to fix the issue! Balls were dispensed!

The other machines I own don't have this piece on them. What's the purpose of having it? I don't understand what the point is having a stopper that effectively blocks the balls and makes the game unusable.

Outside of that, the game seems to be playing fine. The #2 red light is still lit on the back, but it doesn't seem to be inhibiting anything, as far as I can tell.

I had the same problem with one of my machines. Turned out to be a ball jam.

It's a useful device that stops you having to empty the top tank if there is a jam or fault in the payout motor. Remember originally these machines are designed to make money. So quick and easy access to parts and troubleshooting simple faults were a must to limit downtime.
