Default Can anyone help out a first-timer with a modern machine?

Hi all! I'm a new member, I've wanted a Pachinko machine for some time (big anime nerd) and I happened across one for about 37.50 by chance the other day. I grabbed it right away, and it seems to be mostly in working order, it even had some balls with it. I am looking for help with a few things...

First off, the make/model if anyone can tell. It seems very similar to Metal Army by Nishijin, though the playing field looks different from the ones I've seen on here from skimming threads. Maybe a later generation model?

Secondly, the shooter/lights/video screen/etc. all seem to be in working order. I have opened the case up and activated some sort of frenzy mode including one where a target flap opened in the field and a target that interacted with the screen was active. However, it never pays out balls. It cycles them through to a small plastic hopper bucket i put below the chute as a ball catcher, but none ever seem to pay out. The ball chute is loaded, and all i can guess is that the servos that actually effect the payout are either not working or getting power.

Thirdly, some wires attached to a board seem to have been cut. I can't find any corresponding wires that look as if they were once part of these stubs. I'm attaching a picture, maybe someone can clue me in?101_0689.jpg

Thanks so much for helping out a very excited newbie! ^_^

How many balls do you have for it? If the upper hopper is not full it will hold back payouts until you fill it. The upper left lights on the front may remain lit as a clue that the hopper is empty or that the payout system is backed up. For that age of machine you should have around 1-2000 balls to run it. Looks like a nice machine!

    WELCOME!

your machine is Metal Army SVR (that's the nameplate on your photo, #6 - the white label on the green electric box) and it is a Nishijin machine.
P-World says it was released into parlours in November, 1998 : http://ssl.p-world.co.jp/_machine/kisyu.cgi?kisyu=p1158

In Japanese, it's メタルアーミーSVR (you can copy this katakana into Google and do searches with that for more...)

There were 3 machines by Nishijin in this series, according to mansai777 :
    Your's (above)
    Metal Army - SVZ : http://www.mansai777.com/machine/det...el_id/m0001035
    and Metal Army - V2 : http://www.mansai777.com/machine/det...el_id/m0001034

    Great looking playfield!!!
There is always another machine around the corner...

Thank you so much everyone! I ordered 1000 more balls, so hopefully I'll have some luck. Only thing that seems strange is manually depressing the rocker switch in the top hopper seems to have no effect... shouldn't that register in some way, like pressing the light button in a fridge?

Thank you so much for ID'ing it, Candy flip! I'd found a few Metal Army machines on here, but the play field seemed different.

By the way, do the modern machines usually have glass or plexi? Mine has a sheet of plexi, but it's a bit too thin... I will probably at least replace it since it's scratched. Thanks once again!

Hey everyone! Quick update: I dumped all but 5 of the balls that came with the machine into the hopper and lo and behold, that did the trick. It's now working like a champ (Yeahhh, the big flashing "STOP" light shoulda been a clue) I only have 2-300 balls, so i did order some more.

I also plan on building a new stand for it, as whoever put feet on did it with different thicknesses of wood (O.o) which causes it to lean and I'm sure it hasn't done the frame any favors. Any suggestions for a good set of plans any of you have used?

Once again, thank you to everyone for all the help and support!

Welcome to the Dark Side (Pachinko Collectors / Players ) It looks like you have a Pachinko with the 5 inch color CRT , ie picture tube I got the Pachinko bug back in 1976 , stopped temporary 1982-2002 but I like the new machines

After skimming over some designs, I did a pretty simple cabinet for about 18.00 or so... Basically I framed the machine, secured it with carriage bolts, and lifted it up some to allow a tray to slide under it. I removed a metal plate from it and put a hole in the bottom to accommodate a funnel under the ball drop so they all feed neatly into the tray I also put a hole in the top to easily reload the hopper. :-)

Thanks again for the help and warm welcomes!
