Don't worry, I won't be buying up every pachinko that I see, you will be safe to venture onto ebay...for now...maybe

Actually I am very very careful which ones I buy these days, I have lots of moderns, and one 80's one, but only 2 vintages

So this one will be extra special, and I will make sure to post about it when it arrives, pics, etc too

and besides, it's my Xmas Pressie

I'm only interested in mechanical ones, anything electronic like the modern ones makes the hairs on my neck stand on end... maybe an in-between 80's one with moving parts would be cool though

Well it's here!! The Mahjong Pachinko arrived earlier this afternoon and I have been waiting patiently to get it unpacked

and boy was it packed!! I must say thanks again to Paul for such a great job on the packing, everything was snug and well padded inside and out and the balls removed and the plug taken off, I couldn't have done a better job myself

The only casualty was a crack in the top glass of a couple of inches, thankfully it's the plain outer glass sheet and not the inner one (inner one has the decals) So it will be easy to replace the plain glass at a later date

In the excitement of unpacking the machine, trying to find a plug and running round the house raiding the piggy banks for 10p's I totally forgot to take pics!!

Anyway, I will be sure to take pics etc over the next few days and post more about it, especially how it works, as it is all new to me and very exciting

We make a simple request for pictures, and all we get is excuses. Perhaps we need to start giving Hanabi 's until we see some pics.

Sorry I've been having a few technical problems, but here are some pics to start with, please excuse the bad quality, I will endeavour to get some better pics etc as soon as I can

So let me formally introduce you to: The Pachinko previously known as Mahjong Pachinko, which now has a proper name and date!! (thanks go to MrGneiss for that!!) So here are the official details from the manufacturers website

    Manufacturer:
    Fuji
Pachinko Name: Pai Pai Gemu (Pai Pai Game)
    Year: 1973
    Type: Arrange Ball

The brand 'Fuji' is faintly displayed on a glass label towards the bottom left of the machine, it's quite faint and feels a little raised in parts, so I'm thinking that originally it was painted on, rather than sticker decals?

The name of the machine 'Pai Pai Game' is actually displayed quite prominently on the Cell label, although it's not unusual for cell wordings to bear no resemblance to the actual name of a pachinko, but in this case it does

As previously mentioned, the only casualty from it's journey to me, was a small crack in one of the panes of glass, it doesn't detract from the machine or it's playability, but I will replace it in the future

I am pleased to say that as soon as the pachinko had a plug installed, balls put back in and it was powered up, it worked perfectly!!

Presumably because the balls are captive inside and there is no refilling of hoppers etc, the tulips or workings don't get jammed up with fluff or foreign objects, so even the tulips work perfectly without requiring any cleaning or adjustment,

Myself and my family have spent quite a while playing with this pachinko, and all of us keep saying 'just one more go' it is surprisingly addictive, more so than I expected from a machine that does not employ any flashy lights or sound or special effects, it doesn't even have the quaint bell that vintages usually have, but what it does have is the ability to hold your interest, to look at the cell and figure out where you want to be aiming, and it makes players competitive, each of us striving to outdo the other players with our winning lines

I will of course post about the game play and more pics to follow inside and out and hopefully we can sort a video of it in action too
