Default Are keys unique to individual cabinets?

Hi there. I was wondering if keys were unique to individual cabinets or if a single key would work for a wide range of cabinet styles. I noticed people were selling Omron keys for "modern machines" and I was curious if this key would open up the Bitsy V-trigger frame, for example. I had assumed each machine would require its own individual key but I am guessing this is not the case.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me an answer to this.

    Thanks!

Most modern machines use an Omron lock with different trips inside the machines.
I would think 2-3 keys would open at least 90% of modern machines out there.

Thanks for that, Steve. This is where I am confused - if I'm to understand each machine has its own tumbler set in its way, how would only 2-3 keys ensure a 90% open rate? Are you saying that there are only 3-4 possible (my math is atrocious) combinations of tumbler sets?

    Thanks for the clarification.

Only 2 of 39 won't take the standard Omron key. A Sammy that I de-pinned and use an old toolbox key, and the 9 Drums Gladiator.

I have 41 pachinko's and I have never had an issue with an Omron key not working in any of my machines.
All interchangeable. You shouldn't have any problems unless someone who owned the machine before you messed with the lock.

All of my machines open with an omron key.
I do have a couple keys that are longer than others, which is good for some machines, if you want to hang an ornamental key chain, like I do.

So yep, 2-3 keys should be just fine. You probably won't even need that many.

Thanks everyone. This is super helpful. I'll get one key and hope the odds are in my favor.
