    Default Exceedingly Cool Nishijin

    Porta photo album

Thats a link to a page on Candyflip's great site, Pachimono.com
Look on that page for the 4 pics of a Nishijin Super UFO. I'm on my phone so couldn't upload pics directly, maybe someone here will.
Anyway, I thought Power Flashes and Power Roulettes were the epitome of vintage, ball-payout machines but not anymore. I think this machine has that title now.
Anyone ever seen one or know how it works? It has 7 pockets plus 2 UFO pockets. I might even trade an arrangeball for that machine.

Nishijin was definitely an innovator and it seems made the most interesting and fun to play machines back then.

I totally agree with you about those early modern Nishijins, they really seemed to put a lot of thought into that era of machines,
here ,once again, are mine from that time period

Good luck on your search and I'll keep a watch out for you here, lot's of pachinkos to be found locally

A little more about both Nishijin, and this machine.

Nishijin are, as you have pointed out, one of the premier manufacturers in Japanese pachinko history. They have so many amazing machines in their oevure, many of them rare, collectable and pricey. Unfortunately, this machine rates right up there with one of the most rare they produced.

In 1978, in response to the ultra-popularity of Space Invaders and the emerging video game market, Nishijin attempted to make a combo pachinko machine, featuring a basic invaders type game in the center yaku. I have never seen or played this machine in real life, so can't tell you exactly how it played, but that was roughly the idea.

Not sure how many of these were made, but back in '78, not much survived the seasonal clearout of machines to make way for the new ones. The Japanese kept very little - only a few survived as curios. This was one of them in a private collection in Japan.

enjoy the photos because you are unlikely to ever see one for sale.
There is always another machine around the corner...

That Super UFO game looks like a game I would like to own. I'd imagine it's fairly expensive.

Thanks for the info Candyflip. If one does come up for sale, I hope it's over here. Commonly available vintages here sell for thousands on YJA as I'm sure you know. I'd imagine the price tag on the "Super UFO" would be ridiculous.
