So is that normal? I guess I am use to how lit up the slot machines are.

Yeah, it's pretty normal for pachinkos to not have their own lighting. I guess the parlor's are well lit. While I can play my slots easy enough with just the lights from the machines, with the pachinkos I have to turn on room lighting.
Someone once posted a pic of a light mounted right on top of their pachinko. It was a great idea. It looked like one of those clamp on book lights.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.
