Thanks, just what I wanted to know. I'm trying to work out shipping cost from Japan. I haven't heard from Kiai and time is running out. I might have to use Japamart. Has anyone used them and shipped by slo-boat? Wondering if they charge extra for repackaging.

yup, they charge extra. they will put the box from seller in a bigger box. Be prepared to pay over $100 to $125 for the shipping by boat with the bank fee and so on. This doesn't include the initial cost for shipping from seller, bank fee and so on.

I must say that they use kinda big box. I've got a cell in a 2.5' x 2.5' x2.5' box. kinda large.

Hopefully Kiai will be in touch before the auction ends but time is running out. If I don't here from him I guess I'll have go with Japamart. Kiai also charges a 3000 yen re-packaging fee (although he does do a good job) so I guess the price would almost the same.

Has anyone bought from Kiai and Japamart? How does it compare?

I will reveil the cell if I win. We wouldn't want any sniping going on now would we?

who me? if so, right now not really, I had the unfortunate idea to check on YJA once, and now I have my listing to check every night before going to bed hehehehe..

Right now Star Wars and Casino cell are on their way by boat.

I should add that YJA is not really a place to find bargain but more a place to find really wanted stuff or more unusual stuff. The price go with it. I've got my Horror Mansion pachinko, some other pachinkos and many cells from there. It's always the cost of the shipping which is killing.

Usually for pachinko related stuff, the following formula can be use to have an idea of the final cost ship by boat (item, quote, fee and shipping)

Item price X 3 for the good cost
Item price X 4.0 for the not so cost

So a cell that is sold 5,000 Yen (around $50) will have a total cost between $150 and $200.

Thing I didn't order yet from YJA is balls but I'm afraid I will have to some day. I must say that I'm one helping the Japanese economy really well

I have far too many lists in favourites for YJA. I'm also waiting for Kiai to get back to me for some thing.
I thought about a evangelion cel for my lumina frame. Also keep checking for a urusei yatsura 3.

I have bought from both, but Japamart seems reluctant to deal with BIG items (chairs, pachinko machines &.)

Given my druthers... I prefer to deal with Kiai. I bought a ton of small stuff last year from japamart, and it cost me a ton of $$$

Kiai will hold stuff for you and ship all at once.

I prefer to do business with Kiai too, but unfortunately I miss too much opportunities on items because he replied a week too late, after 5 days the auction ended. So most of the time I use Japamart, and for whole machine I use Kiai. It's a shame someone bidded on a machine using Japamart services and didn't want to pay the shipping. Because of that now the pachinko section is locked and everything must be check by Japamart staff prior to bidding. Even buying a set of windmill require the help of Japamart staff to bid on it. At least they usually bid the day following the request.

With only 12 hours left to go (auction ended early morning) and no word from Kiai I had no option but to enlist the services of Japamart.

After 2 years of searching for this cell I wasn't going to let it pass me by.

Like Tilion said the listing has to be manually bided on but luckily this was done in less than and hour. I woke up early sunday morning and the listing had ended.
I had won with a 2980 yen starting bid. I'm yet to find out what the final cost will be. I'll make another post later listing the details. I did notice however that the Japamart currency conversion was 5 yen less than the actual, so there's another way they make money from you.

So what cell is it? CR大魔神‏ (Great Demon God)

hehe ok I know from which seller you bought it. He have many Sankyo/Bisty cells to sell. I bought Casino and StarWars from him about three weeks ago, they are on their way here now. I must said I paid more than 2980 Yen unfortunately. The shipping from this seller to Japamart was a bit more than usually what I paid for cells too, but I don't know if it's because the double cell shipping or what. Nice to hear that you got what you was looking for I think someone when we really want a cell, or a pachinko, there's no price for it. I remember when I bought Alien vs Predator in the beginning of 2009, it was and still the most expensive pachinko I ever bought but I don't regret it at all. I could have bought 5 or 6 modern pachinko at this price hehehe. Sound like it didn't stopped me because this is what I have done since I bought A vs P heheheh.

I too still haven't heard back from Kiai. Lucky what I'm after is a Buy it now, so timing is less critical.
I'm sure I get stiched on the exchange rate when using SMJ because they convert all payments into USD, SO I have to pay for GBP converted to USD and then to Yen. But they will store a lot of different lots iin Tokyo for upto 3 months before shipping the lot in one box to me.
I haven't tried Japamart before, Are they much cop.

Are they much cop? I'll let you know depending on how this deal goes.
I just had a look at the SMJ site. They don't appear to charge a percentage of the total like Japamart do. Is this correct? If so they look to be a cheaper way to go. Japamart charge 5% of the total.

That's right. The commission is done on a ladder. Lowest rate $6 for goods up to 2000¥ The commission on yours would be $8. I think, don't know if that includes postage.
But then who offers the best exchange rate.
I do like their real time bidding function with the ability to snipe if requested.
I have 22 model railway buildings and a figurine sitting in Tokyo waiting to be shipped

The exchange rate looks to be the same there rate is -5 yen of the actual like Japamart. I think Shopping Mall Japan may be the way to go next time.

    For information.
I brought 2 things 2 months apart. one cost 3200yen the other 3500yen not including shipping (internal shipping not included)
The first total with internal shipping was $57.50 the second total was $75.90
I then have to pay for them to be shipped to the UK. So the price can vary alot depending on the shipping and rates.

I guess all services have their good and bad side.
Let us know how Japamart do. And total cost (if you don't mind)

Japamart have received the cell already. So far I've been sent a bill for $73.79. This covers the cell and shipping to there office. Here's the breakdown:

Closing price of cell $39.21 (2980 yen)
    Commission $8
    Internal Shipping $21.07
    Bank Fee $2
Transaction Fee $3.51 (this is the 5% of the total they charge. I guess to cover paypal fees)
    Total=$73.79

Now I need to wait to find out the shipping cost to the US. I chose Surface Parcel (Slo-boat)
