Default Sanyo Comet II - BigBadger's project

I have just bought my first Pachinko from a local stoner dude for $45. It seems to be in relatively good condition with the exceptions of no balls and a small bag of parts and linkages he handed to me as I was leaving. I can see SANYO COMET II, Bussan Nagoya and the word King on the front playing area.

Here are some pix in case someone is familiar with it.

Approx. what year would it be?
    What model version?
Anything else that you might think may be of any help to me...

    Thanks,

Welcome to PachiTalk! You are among friends here!

That is a mid-1970's era Sankyo "Model B" type machine (very common). I do like the king in the centerpiece - very nice!!

No key is needed unless you plan to mount the machine into the wall or a cabinet where the back will not be accessible.

Congrats on your first (of many) machines!!

My plan is to have this as a working machine in the house for my sons, nieces and nephews to play with and enjoy during visits.

My brother is gonna freak when he finds out. Our story is that when we were quite young our Grandmother's best friend had one brought back from Japan way back when... and we would sneak over to these people's place and ask to play the Pachinko which they would gladly allow. We LOVED going over there and had not seen one of these games since... 30 years have passed and I've found this one after about 2 years of looking for something local and not overly pricey.

I'm an electroplater and may end up re-chroming some parts. It that something I should avoid or is it not a problem?

Really? Each post is checked by a moderator? Seems a little excessive. I frequent many forums and have never some across that before.

I see. Makes sense. Thanks for the reply. Funny how each forum has it's own "personality" and feel.

With regards to providing better pix of both the parts and the sticker, I'll do that after work.

Hey JACKSJE4 - You indicated it's a Sankyo Model B but this one does say Sanyo... the 2 companies are different, no?

it is a Sanyo, they are separate companies but with the spelling so close they get switched when typing in posts from time to time

I believe Sankyo and Sanyo were one in the same, or combined at some point because both brands offered the "Comet II" line of machines during the 70's. I do have one of each in my garage. Also, the mechanics on the back appear to be interchangeable between each brand as well.

In any regard, you have a very nice machine there - one definitely worth cleaning, fixinig up and keeping.

The date sticker puts the date of manufacture at 1974 or 1975.

if ya split the pic of extra parts i can tell ya where they go

    one is the door latch
the other is the ball dump
one is the over flow stopper (when the botom tray is full it shuts off the shooter
the last is the end of the jackpot cycle.. it hold the winning ball one the lever so the machine can finish its cycle.. missing that pice could effect how the machine pays

Thanks Moparformances. I don't know if you have the ability but if possible could you show me visually where the parts may go? I use Fastone Capture to copy and illustrate my pix. I pic of a Comet II with arrows would be greatly appreciated. I tried to give 2 angles for item clarity. Let me know if you need a better pic.
