    Default What model is this?

I figured out from Pachinko Machine Expiration Stickers that this machine was manufactured in 1977. It's in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. I haven't tore into it yet and haven't even powered it up. I though I better read up on the vintage machines a bit more and find out more about it first.

Anyone know what model this is? It says Ginza on the front and "Ultora" on a part in the middle behind the glass. Is that the model name and manufacturer?

Usually vintage pachinkos tend not to have a specific name, although lots of us give them names based on certain features or cell designs

In fact I have the same 'Ultora' tulip on my Sanyo Comet II which dates from around 1974 I think??

In my experience the "Ultora Tulip" has been used on many different manufacturers machines. Although it seems mostly mid to late 70's machines.

No matter what, thats a good looking machine!! I love Ginzas!!

    Have fun!!

I've removed the mechanical part from the back of the machine. There were LOTS of balls stuck in several pockets. The back came off without any trouble.

I did notice though, that there appears to be a small broken piece on the back. It's at the end of the long ramp that the hopper feeds into (on the top-right area of the machine if looking at the back. I can't tell what this piece is supposed to do though?? (it's the pinkish piece flipped over to the right. It looks like there should be legs that can go down into where the balls are).

That broken piece is a ball stop that allows the attendant to drain the machine without draining the top hopper. The machine should play fine without it.

    Welcome to the addiction.

That makes sense, thanks. Now it's over to the thread on cleaning the machine...

Yes, being able to easily take off the plastic mechanism all at once to work on separately was very helpful! Being the first machine I've restored it made a big difference.

I've taken the machine almost completely apart and cleaned all the dust, dirt, cob webs (I saw a spider running around but it eluded capture). Some of the wiring was bad which I had to replace but that was easy. Also , there was a large arm that the jackpot payout dumped balls onto that didn't rotate back and fourth very well. Not really knowing how the machine worked though, I decided to leave that one alone. After putting it all back together, I see exactly what that arm does (and that it needs to move free). So that's the only part left to clean. Well... I've only shined up about 4 of the brass nails, I'm planning on tackling that job once I get my hands on a dremel with a buffing wheel.
