Default new owner needs help ASAP! i have beer!

Just came across a beautiful little nishijin sophia from 76. My first pachinko, but my wife's second...her first as a child. This is a gift for her. I want to present to her in working condition, buy it's not quite there. I can't get her to fire. I live in San Diego and was hoping to find someone local who might offer advice. I'll buy the beer. One week to Christmas - please can you help?
    Cheers,
    james

    Welcome to the forum!

Drat! I was just in San Diego and could have helped you in person. Sorry the timing was off.

As mentioned here, post pics and describe the issue and we will gladly help you out. Most issues with vintage Pachinkos are quick and easy to resolve.

Not sure which model a '76 would be, but there are a few great videos on youtube which might help you get it operating.

Most likely a Model B would be my guess. It seems Model A's were being phased out around then.

Hi all - thanks for your help. My main concern is that I can't get it to fire. I've got about 150 clean balls - had more but many were in bad shape so i'm not using those right now. When I load the balls in the top hopper, they just flow straight thru to the bottom. A few might divert and ding the bell, but most just go straight thru. Whatever needs to happen to let them go to the launcher doesn't work.

So, on to pictures - the first couple are just a few front shots. There is also one of the sticker (june 77, I think?), and one of the launcher - does this look right?

Ill try to snap a few of the back to post as well.

    Thanks again,
    James

    Hello,

Sorry, I cannot seem to view the images at the links posted,

It is better if you can attach pics to your post using the following method

That way they can be visible to all members and hopefully get you some quicker advice

I think all you need is to watch a quick start guide for your machine.
Assuming "Microbus" is correct, here is the quick start guide for a "B":
    YouTube - thepachinkoman's Channel

Otherwise look at the channel for the guy who did this guide, he has guides for the Model A and C as well.
I'm sure something is just in the wrong position. On an "A" there are levers that dump all the balls out and you probably just have yours in that dump position, which is why the balls are all going through.

I am welcoming our new member. We do need pictures of the actual machine and please post them here on the thread . Some of the members here can give solutions to problems with a good picture or two

So if my math is correct and a picture is worth 1000 words, and a video is worth 10,000,000 pictures, a video is worth 10,000,000,000 words.

    10 Billion Words!!!

CarGuy, if you post a video or some pictures, you're sure to have this resolved by the big day. There are many helpful people on this website. And of course...

Steve, that wasn't a very nice thing to say now...

Ok, time to give a couple thousand words worth. I'll start with two front shots for model identification and a sticker shot if anyone wants to offer thoughts on dating the machine (I think June 77ish?). Next, I'll do a couple shots of the flipper-shooting mechanism and the see-saw. Should there be a spring of some sort on the shooter? Does this all look correct?

    thanks,
    James

    Cool machine!

Did you pick that one up off Craigslist recently? I think I was looking into getting that very machine (or one very much like it) when I was in San Diego around Thanksgiving.

Your picture #5 shows the shooter spring is attached to the shooting arm, however I am unable to see if it is connected to the nail on the right side of the machine. Perhaps that is all that you need to do to get the shooter working. (I circled the spring in your pic below. follow it across the back of the machine and see if the other end is connected to the nail)

As for the balls draining from the machine as they are loaded into the jackpot hopper, it sounds as if the drain mechanism is in the open position. Post some close-up pics of the back and I can let you know if that is the issue, or if something else is going on.

One last thing... Your jackpot seesaw is in the wrong position for awarding jackpots. It may be stuck in this position because the machine is draining and not paying out jackpots correctly. You can manually reset it by tipping it in the "ready" position as illustrated in pic #2 below.

Let us know what additional help you need.
