Possibly remove the tumbler actuators and springs if it uses any... like was done on my Pachislo machine lock.
Are you sure you have a 79 machine because if so it has a magnetic lock and I can't help. But the thread link I posted will help you.

No, I apologize for the typo. I have a 1971 machine.

I did a search on the website regarding pachinko locks, and found some references to "Arby's mod" which I understand might be a thread about my lock. But Arby's mod didn't show up on a search.

I'll start a new thread if I choose to disassemble my lock, and if the mod is successful.

no problem about the typo. (we all have issues like that )

I haven't started a thread on it yet because I'm still playing with a few minor things. But I can help you out if you want to play with it.

I have successfully made a straight lock work with a key and an angled lock (some minor mods to the angle lock). The hard part was finding a key that fit the slot size (very long and narrow) I found a blank that works but there is quite a few mods that need to be made to it. The blank is a HY-KO, KK2; or in understandable terms a KIA Sportage key. The slots fit fine you just need to cut the tip off and make some other cuts in it. I have pictures attached below you can see what I'm talking about.

Once again I'm still playing with it once I can figure it out completely I'll post a thread on it.
I forgot to mention that the locks function with the keys with all the tumblers still in place.

Anything ever come of this? If someone is able to provide a master key for a 1998 Nishijin, I'd be very interested. (I believe it's an Omron lock... I can post pics if that helps)

    Pictures would help.

I have only been able to make keys for the nishijin lock pre 1977. Anything after that I have yet to mess with. But post some pictures I may be able to help you make a key for it.

for what it's worth, i was messing around with locks on a few taiyo machines and i realized that the appropriate sized metal tubing goes into the lock perfectly and compresses all the roller bearings. the next step is to fasten a lug of some sort to the inside of the tube to engage with the notch in the lock so the lock could be turned. some square metal rod stock would work fine, cut the piece to size (maybe an eighth inch or less and solder or braze it to the tube. easy to do and cheap.

Here we go. If these are not good enough, I can take some tomorrow. (Not very well lit, and I'm not feeling well tonite, I'm afraid...) But here are the internal and external shots of the lock. The keyhole just has an "N" marking above it. Is this just for Nishijin, or does this indicate a lock type? (It's kind of stylized, so I'm thinking company brand instead of lock type)

Hmm. The front picture is a little blurry. So it is hard to tell what type it actually is.

But based on what it kinda looks like I think you'll find this thread a little more helpful.

Thank you! I actually found a lock in that thread that looks just like mine. Had no idea it was magnetic... Learn something every day, I guess. ^_^
