    Default Dragon Navigation

Okay, for the umpteenth time I went all the way to the top with Dragon Dice's Big & Small game. So the friendly announcer says, "Now, on to Dragon Navigation." I love this machine, but this is making me nutz.

Looking at the sticker below the reels, you can get 15 tokens for shooting a 7-bell-bell on the center line while stopping the reels from right to left.

Is this an eye shooting thing, because this is a hard combination to get. I suck at eye shooting.

Was thinking about getting one of those adjustable-rate strobe lights to give me a little edge. You could adjust the flash until you get stop motion on the reels. Howzaboutit??

I finally did that myself on my DD over the weekend. Heh, funny thing is that I translated the DD documentation in the museum and I still can't figure out what the difference is from a regular BB and a BB achieved after guessing the three dice rolls correctly.

Here I thought I was going to be playing for two hours.

Don't ya just hate it when the chance lights up, you try and hit the BB and you land on a RB by mistake? Ugh...

Great machine, louder than most (but tollerable on 'low').

That's an interesting idea! Wonder if anyone's ever tried that. 8-)

Usually I find that one of the three colors of 7s will be easier to eye shoot than the others. During Dragon navigation, the color that's easiest to eye shoot is the color that lights up (If no color is lit, white is what you're trying for.) The right to left 15 credit 7-bell-bell is not just for Dragon Navigation, I find it commonly gives you shot at it when you get the "special" sounds when the reels start. Without Dragon Navigation, I think the reel backlighting and sounds during the 1st two reel stops tell you what to shoot for, but I haven't figured it out 100%

Was wondering that myself! All my BB's have been a max of 30 jac games and 3 bonus rounds. Doesn't seem to matter how I got there...

 That has happened to me 3 times that I can remember. And yes, you kinda feel ripped off when that happens.

I put a pair of Syscom's variable resistors on our DD. The speakers have spade quick-disconnects. So I attached about 2" of wire to the resistors and crimped a lug on one end and a spade on the other end. Plug one end of the resistor into the speaker and plug the speaker wire into the other end. It was a little more work, but I didn't have to cut the machine's speaker wires.

Every now and then I get 'flatulence of the brain' and the result is truly diabolical.

That is good info! It didn't occur to me that the backlights and sounds had any real significance, so will have to pay more attention to that.

Thanks for your most excellent responses, guys!

I hate that also when you get screwed with RB instead of BB... SUCKS

 Okay Arby, what's all this eye rolling stuff?

Actually it was the DD machine itself that made me think of using a strobe. Every now and then the reels go dark, a tune plays, and the strobes in the machine turn on for a few seconds. When the strobes are on, the reels seem to stand still. I ain't no rocket surgeon, but hey, it might work and it'll only cost me about $20 to find out.

The strobe should work. Same principal as holding your fingers in a slight "v" and moving them up and down quickly in front of your eyes while watching the spinning reels. You can see the individual symbols. Hard to hit the stop buttons while doing that, though.

So now we need to set up stobe lighting in order to eye shoot in order to really beat the darn machines, eh?

The trick is going to be setting the strobe at the right speed. It would be no problem to set it so the symbol stays still. But, that tells you nothing. You have to get the symbol rotating through the window just slow enough that you can see it, but fast enough that there's still some relationship between pressing the stop button when you see it reach a certain spot and it ending up in the right spot one revolution later. I think it's going to be much trickier than you think.

Ha, I think strobe lights are one of the nastiest things on earth. Right up there with Formosan Termites, Fire Ants, and those jumbo sticky buns they sell at the fair...

I'm not really concerned enough with eye shooting to sit there with a strobe. That would be overkill, even for me.

Right now would be a good time to say that I enjoy sarcasm and parody. With that said, sometimes the stuff that I type would be better left untyped. Emoticons can only express so much.

The strobe light remark was tongue-in-cheek, pure bull hockey, not gonna happen in this lifetime. I just don't care that much about it, and I was jus' joshin' y'all. :-)

Sheesh, leave it to Gary to throw the ice-cold water of practicality on the whole thing.

Not to mention that you're not factoring in the reel slipping. You can nail it all day long and the machine will still slip you out of the win.
