    Default Need a Transformer

So I know this question has already been asked a million times...

But does anyone have for sale, or know somewhere that might, a 120V to 24V DC at maybe 9 or 10 amps??

I just imported a 2009 Super Sea Story in Mediterranean and its going to have a battle counter attached to it also...

I read in another forum that PowerVolt only sells theirs in bulk at 25 or more units, and I sure don't need 25 of them ahaha

    DC? Are you sure.
Most machines are 24VAC. I assume it's for the machine and the battle counter wil take it's feed from the ports on the back of the machine.

    there's lots of sources.

ebay has a bunch, search for "transformer 24 vac" then pick one with at least 6 amps output

yes, I think the drunkenclam has a good point, that you want an AC input to the machine.

I just had this discussion with daverob, our electronics guru about whether I could use a DC transformer I had sitting around, while waiting to get to my AC transformer... bottom line is "no"

gaku has had reasonable prices on transformers

    surplus stores often have them.

the lucky thing for us about 24 VAC is that many of the halogen type lights run off this voltage, so they're easy to find. if you're in a hurry, you could probably go to a lamp store or hardware store and find one.

my last one was a huge 600W transformer with power to drive 4 or 5 moderns. got it off ebay for about $40 shipped.

    have fun!

MPJA here in Florida has good prices on transformers. I've bought quite a few from them and have never had any problems.

They have the 10A on sale for $18.95

Thanks for that link! I will be ordering one shortly

I'm sure everyone is sick of seeing Super Sea Story machines, but you know, I just might have to take a few pics when its up and running anyway

By all means, post your photos. I like to see what cell versions people have.
