    Default LCD Screen problem

Hey everyone, Im completely new to these machines and I need some help.
I just picked this up today. It is fully working except for one issue. There is something wrong with the lcd display. It always at least displays fuzz/garbage, and sometimes displays the speed racer stuff perfectly. Ive checked for breaks in the wires, and unplugged/replugged in all the connectors.

I really dont even know where to start, or what to do. Any ideas?

Here is a link to the exact game I have.

No ideas? Is there any more info that I could give that would help solve this problem? Maybe this is unfixable I dont know.

    Hello,

The usual starting point for any problems with Pachis is to check all the connections and unplug and reseat them and check for breaks etc, you have already done this, so sounds like you are needing something a little more in-depth

There will be members here that have encountered & resolved problems with LCDs, and hopefully they will reply with more troubleshooting advice for you (you may need to give it a little time though as some members are not able to surf the internet from work etc)

In the meantime a pic and description of what is happening or not happening on screen and with the rest of the machine, or better still, perhaps a
small video clip may be extra helpful so the members can see exactly what is happening

Any extra info you can provide, for example, are there any error codes displaying?? any writing on screen?? is sound present??

I'm sorry I am not 'technical' in this area but I will try a 'search' for any LCD / Screen issues and post any relevant results

In the meantime, Welcome to PachiTalk

Hi welcome to the addiction !!! get a real good magnifying glass and check the little tiny pins on each connector to make sure that the pin is not bent or missing . If it is bent like i had on my Sankyo Victory Frame Lord Of The Rings Pachinko VERY GENTLY with a jewlers flat blade screw driver straighten the pin .

    Hmmmm.

    Video Sync problem,
could be a bad signal at the video board, and is often corrected by re-seating the connectors, which will be RIGHT near the LCD panel (behind or near).

Open the machine up and disconnect the video board from the LCD panel, and from the other side (to the controller). Most of the time these connectors are FFC or FRC so BE CAREFUL when disconnecting/re-connecting them. Make sure to look for any latches that might be holding the connector in. Some just push in or out, and others will have a latch that either move up just a little, or will flip up/out before you can take it out. If it is a quick-connect, then it will just look like a plug, and those are easy

Then re-connect the video board, and power the machine on.

If that does not fix the issue, then you may need a new Video Board (card).

Just went through it and did what you said. Sadly no change. I guess it needs a new board?

Sorry that there was no change - that is a bummer.

So the easy stuff is out of the way.

    Now it could be:

    Video Board,
    Cables,
    LCD (less probable)

If you have spares of any of this stuff... now it is "swap out" time.

Dont have any spare parts sadly. Any idea how much a new board would run me?

I was really hoping this was going to be an easy fix. So strange how it sometimes works sometimes doesnt.

    Hi
I just saw your videos and it looks a lot like the lamp starter circuitry is on the fritz. You may want to closely examine the caps that control the LCD lamp (backlight) circuit. If you find any that are swollen, leaking or have smoke deposits coming from them onto the board or nearby parts then it should be an easy fix.
Just my guess but I hope it helps.

After doing that, the graphics/picture/sound immediately started working. It is worth a try.
