Default Top Gun Auto Start Complete

Top Gun Auto Start modification complete. For what it's worth...

First, let me give credit to this PT thread. Good background research information.
    Remote Start Thread

Overall, a pretty simple mod. Get a button -- I used these from the thread above:
    Radio Shack Normally Closed Switch

Then find the ball sensors in the machine. The first picture below is from my Top Gun in an Antler frame. The Start sensor was the most difficult of the sensors to find, but all sensor wires were grouped together (the six connectors clustered a little right of center are the ball sensors). So, if you chase all of the wires, you can pretty easily figure out which is the Start. On Top Gun it is the orange CN3 connection.

So, I snipped one of those CN3 wires and I attached an overly long stretch of wire to each snipped end and connected it to a button. Connections are pictured in the second pic below.

I wasn't completely sure I had the right wire, so I initially just used electrical tape to hold the connections together (versus solder). When I turned the machine on, I was confused initially. Because the electrical tape did not hold a tight connection to the button, whenever I handled the button, start/spin credits were added to the machine.

After some thought I remembered that the circuit is normally energized, or closed. When a ball passes through the sensor, it is momentarily opens the circuit and this triggers the start/spin. So when I handled the button, the electrical tape was allowing for very brief moments where the circuit was open causing the start.

So I soldered the connections to the button and it works like a champ. My soldering skills are featured in the third picture. Second time in my life I've soldered.

Simple and fun mod. I have to think other frames would be similar. Heck, I'm tempted to do more of the ball sensors (but, frankly, I can't think of a good reason to do so).

What is your setup? Is there a lock on your shooter knob with the touch-sensitivity overridden?

I still use the shooter knob to shoot balls,
full cyclic only uses about 20 balls that recycle to the front tray when you shoot them, it doesn't pay out any balls.

auto spin just activates the screen, reaches without shooting any balls

I'm sorry for the spam, Yukiwanwan. I'm a knucklehead. I just didn't read that right. RTFQ, I guess.
